Letter from the Principal
May/June 2024
The end of the year is upon us. There are a lot of exciting activities being planned and we also want to share with our families some of the events that will be taking place as we close out the school year and information for the start of the new school year. First of all, thank you families for your partnership and support throughout the year. I am impressed and appreciative of the effort that each of our families make to ensure students come to school ready to learn. We value when our parents are working closely with their student(s) to make sure they are staying on top of their school work and checking in with teachers when they are unsure or need some clarification.
I am currently in the process of putting together non-renewal letters for students that have struggled academically and have had three Unsatisfactory evaluations in a row or multiple Unsatisfactory evaluations throughout the year. This includes students who have had high levels of discipline. I will also be putting together probationary letters that students and parents will sign that will be an agreement that will need to be fulfilled if their child continues at CAM in the 2024-25 school year. The letters will focus on areas of attendance, tardy’s, discipline and unsatisfactory evaluations on monthly progress reviews. I will be reaching out to those families that will be receiving these letters. Please know that the reason these letters are going out is to solidify the parent-partnered agreements, and to be sure we are holding each other accountable for the agreements set forth in the application when students first started at the school.
I want you to be aware of our all school barbecue on Friday, May 31 during student lunches. We will have tables set up outside for parents to sit with their children during lunch or students can also sit in the cafeteria as well. During this day we will have a field day in the morning for grades 7-12 from 9:15-10:30 AM and 12:30-1:45 PM for grades 3-6. We can still use volunteers and supplies for this event. One other topic I want to share with families is the safety and security of the campus. Currently, the district is working on adding security cameras and card readers to each of the buildings. This work should be completed this summer in time for the start of the 24-25 school year. We are also looking to have a couple of locations on campus where we have crash bar gates for staff and students to get out in the event of an emergency. It is our hope that everything will be completed over the summer and things will be 100% wrapped up for the new school year. Thanks for your patience as we navigate our way through these projects.
Please note that at the end of the year we tend to have many more field trips. Please make sure you have an updated volunteer form on file if you plan to volunteer. If you are not sure you can check with our office staff. It takes 7-10 days to clear volunteers so it would be good to take care of this right away if your volunteer status has expired. Volunteer forms are good for two years.
We will have early release days on June 13 and 14. Students will be released at 11:10 AM. June 14 is the last day of the school year. We will have a back-to-school ice cream social on Thursday, August 22 from 1:00-2:30 PM. The first day of school will be on Tuesday, August 27. In addition, each grade level and the high school will have parent information meetings at the start of the school year. These meetings are required to attend to ensure that parents and students understand the expectations and the plan for the year. We are thankful for another great year with our families. I also appreciate that we have a permanent campus where we have long term stability with our program. If you ever have any questions please don’t hesitate to reach out to me.
