The last few weeks are bittersweet! We have started our themed 10 last days of school countdown and we're having so much fun! We are also celebrating each other by recognizing a student of the day until the last day of school. We will share our 1st grade memory books with our families on June 12th. On June 13th, it's not goodbye, it's- I'll see you next year on your way to second grade!

The countdown to summer vacation has begun! The end of the year is always bittersweet. Your 2nd graders have spent the last 91/2 months learning and laughing and are ready to begin their 3rd grade adventure. I am so honored to have been a part of their educational journey and I wish you all a safe and wonderful summer.
Enjoy the pictures from our field day, fun run and visit from the mad scientist who taught us about the science of toys.
Thank you for all of your support throughout the school year,
Mrs. Green

Grades 4 & 5 are finishing a novel study. Students in 4th grade read Gooseberry Park or Charlotte's Web; students in 5th grade read I Survived the Sinking of the Titanic, Tuck Everlasting, or The Unteachables. We are also writing narrative short stories and reviewing many grammar and language skills that were taught throughout the year. In social studies, grade 4 has been learning about Canada & Mexico, while grade 5 has been studying westward expansion and slavery in the early republic.

As the year winds down and the district testing is finishing up, students are doing math review of skills learned. They are still doing life science activities. GR 4 SCIENCE: Each student looked up a different animal and wrote about some physical traits that make them interesting and unique. Then they presented their pictures to the class. They rubbed leaves to see the veins that transport nutrients throughout the plant and the first butterfly emerged. Pictured here are some recent photos from grade 4 in class. Grade 5C enjoyed an optical illusions activity with the mad scientist. Also we have some photos from field day.

May was a BUSY month! We had so much fun when Mystic Aquarium and Mad Science came to visit. We are finishing up our math units and having a little bit of fun! Fifth grade is working with solar energy and heat while fourth graders have been challenged with using Lego to create earthquake resistant buildings. We are enjoying the warmer weather and looking forward to the final few weeks!
MR. Dagenais
The students in 5D have gained an amazing amount of knowledge in all their subjects this school year. It has been such a pleasure to watch them grow and learn. We will miss each of our students next school year. We are sending them off to middle school knowing that they are ready for the next chapter in their journey.
Best wishes,
Mr. D, Miss Hannah, and Mrs. DaSilva
SCHOOL NURSE
All medication kept at school must be picked up by the last day of school. Students are not permitted to transport medications home. Therefore, any medication remaining at school after the last student day will be properly disposed of. This includes all prescription and non-prescription medications, inhalers, and Epinephrine pens. If you are unable to pick up medication by the last day of school, alternative arrangements can be made by contacting your child’s nurse prior to the end of the school year. Thank you for your cooperation.
