February Important Dates
Now through February 17th: WIDA Access Testing
Northwest English Language Learner students will be taking their WIDA Access Testing. If your child is taking these exams please encourage them to get a good night's sleep each night and to eat a nutritious breakfast at home or at school.

The ELD team would like to thank everyone for their cooperation and understanding as we finish up the WIDA testing. We hope to be done testing soon and commence our regular schedules.

If your child misses school please, send a note within 3 school days of the absence.

February Days to Celebrate!
Library Lovers' Month
The whole month of February is Library Lovers' Month. Encourage your child to continuing developing their love a reading. Did you know a study supported students who read 30 minutes or more a day, with high comprehension, are nearly two times more likely to achieve college and career readiness than students who do not read 30 minutes!
Black History Month

It is the perfect opportunity to explore the many remarkable people, events, and accomplishments that have helped shaped our nation. Make a 100 tallies shirt with your student that they can wear OR have them dress up as a 100 year old to celebrate the 100th day of school.
Tuesday, February 14th: Valentines Day
Happy Valentines Day! Encourage your child to wear RED, WHITE, or PINK today to celebrate.
Monday, February 27th: Tell a Fairy Tale Day
Teachers are encouraged to read a fairy tale to their class and have their class create a fun fairy tale mad lib!
Monday, February 27th: National Polar Bear Day
Feeling Beautiful is Being Beautiful
The Parent Engagement Center is hosting a night of self-indulgence with makeup giveaways, seminars on makeup application, and guest hosts!

Power Packs Sign Up
The Power Packs Project distributions at Northwest are distributed each Thursday from 3:15 - 3:45 PM outside at the Maintenance building area in the Northwest parking lot.

Safety Concerns
2. Please do not let student bring their personal playground items (e.g., football, basketball, dodgeball) to school. While students are waiting in the morning they have been throwing these items which pose a safety concern to the parents and students waiting. These items are are supplied by the school to students at recess time.
