VES Parent Letter
February 9th, 2024
Happy Friday!
-Our author visit on Monday was a hit (pics below)! Ms. Laurel Snyder was very engaging with our students and a good time was had by all. Special thanks to Ms. Andrea Jayaraman and Ms. Pansini for helping to organize.
-Last Friday, we had a few of our VES students participate in the county science and engineering fair (pic below). Special thanks to Ms. Sumi Jayaraman for guiding our VES participants. Our participating students were:
4th grade: Benjamin Cross, Penelope Owens and Peter Syribeys
5th grade: Nathan Dees (3rd place)
-Over the Martin Luther King Jr. weekend in January, Vanderlyn had two students compete in a chess tournament by the Georgia Chess Association. Third graders, Rushank Dey and Pranav Prasannaramkumar, came in 2nd place in the team competition. Well done Vikings!
-Our morning carpool begins at 7:15. Please be sure to have students dropped off by 7:40 each day. Beginning at 7:45, we start to mark students as tardy. It can be a bit of a struggle for kids to catch up when they are consistently late, so please be sure to have them here by 7:40 each day.
-Our 3rd grade musical on Wednesday, March 27th will now include our Vanderlyn Singers. Ms. Ketabi is excited for this group top join the 3rd graders during their performance.
-Reminder that there is no school for students on Friday, February 16th and Monday, February 19th. Students return to VES on Tuesday, February 20th.
Have a great weekend!
