KIWANIS FOOD DRIVE
Our Walt Disney students and families collected a whopping 1,870 canned goods and items for the Clinton Valley Kiwanis Thanksgiving Food Drive! WOW! With the help and guidance of our amazing Stu-Co Reps, we were able to collect, count, and pack up all of the meal items for families in need.
Congratulations to Ms. Browe's Kindergarten class who brought in a total of 394 cans! Student Council will be sponsoring a pizza arty for your class! Ms. Lerchen's class came in a strong second with 287 cans, and Mrs. Sylvesters in third with 212 cans. Thank you to everyone for your donations!
The can food drive was a huge success thanks to our amazing student council members and our Disney families. Many thanks to all for your generous support!

Food Critics With Mrs. Bungart
Students in 3rd – 6th grade worked with Mrs. Bungart and acted as movie theatre food critics. They participated in a mystery food rating event on select varieties of snack items. The students took this very seriously and rated the chips on appearance and taste. Bonuses were given if the students were able to guess the specific flavor. They had so much fun and enjoyed exploring a future potential career as a food flavor tester.
Second Step Social & Emotional Learning K-5
As you know, last week we kicked of the Second Step Curriculum in all K-8 classes to further strengthen our social and emotional learning. Second Step offers weekly, age-appropriate virtual lessons for students to help them with a variety of social and emotional skills. These weekly lessons build on and support all of the great work we're doing at Ike to support our students. Combined with our schoolwide restorative practices and consistent PBIS expectations, we are creating a firm Tier 1 foundation for supporting all of our students' social, emotional, and behavioral development.
This week, each grade-level will begin a new unit. Please view the grade-level home links below to learn more about what your child is learning and how to support them at home during the second unit of Second Step.

Last Call Missing Items??
Our lost & found is overflowing. Items will be outside placed the office/media center this week for students to reclaim items. Items remaining on Tuesday, November 21st will be donated to goodwill. Please encourage your child to check for missing items.
Ready or not- the cold weather is here!
Time outdoors is time well spent for kids, in all seasons. We're starting to see MANY students bundled up each day, which is great! Please be sure to send your child to school dressed for the weather each day. Students will start needing warm coats, gloves, hats, scarves, and/or boots daily throughout the winter.
Please note that, per Board Policy, we will be having outdoor morning lineup and heading outdoors for our 20 minute recess(es) if the windchill is 10+ degrees.
Please take time to label each and every item- because our lost and found gets bombarded with lost winter accessories throughout the season. If items are labeled we will do our best to return them to students.
Minutes Matters!
The bell to start the school day rings at 8:30 a.m. We have had a problem with many students arriving late to school. This not only affects the student who is tardy, but also has an impact on the rest of the classroom. Many important events take place at the beginning of the school day. When a student arrives late, they are missing out on important classroom assignments as well as important announcements. They also interrupt the learning environment for the rest of the students. Please make every effort to assure your student starts the day off in positive way by getting them to school on time.
We have also have an increasing number of students leaving early daily. We dismiss at 3:30 PM unless otherwise noted. Students withdrawn early also miss on daily instruction and interventions. They also disrupt the learning environment. Please make every effort to schedule appointments outside the school day. We want to make sure all of our students are learning. We also do not want tardiness or early withdrawals to result in a truancy referral for any of our families.
