It's been another awesome week at Summerour. This week we are celebrating our Spelling Bee winners from last Friday, as well as the 12 Science Fair teams who will represent us at the county Science Fair. Parents, getting your kids engaged in activities in or out of school is a great way to help them learn to make great choices. Help your child get involved: we have clubs and athletics here to provide just such opportunities.

Congratulations, also are due to Michael McCullum (below) who was our runner-up. Both of these students displayed great poise and beat out their peers for this honor.

We are so proud of every student who participated in Science Fair . The work they showcased this week was outstanding. The judges were so impressed with the students' projects. Thank you, Science teachers, for your inspiration and support of students!

Have you started this month's Khan Academy goal? 72% complete by the end of January!

Have your student stay in practice and work on Khan Academy daily. Short sessions every day will do wonders.

We are giving incentives out each month. We also have a Khan Saturday Program - ask your math teacher to join!

If your child was selected for AAP, our no cost credit recovery program, it starts on Monday @ 7:15am

How do you know if your child was selected?

• We sent a letter home with the student on Wednesday
• We also emailed a PDF copy of the letter home on Thursday

ACCESS Testing

ACCESS testing for our English Language Learners is about 3/4 complete...but not over yet. There are several parts to the test. Please ensure students are rested and ready on the day of the test.

The G.I.F.T.S. mentoring program began taking donations on 12/6/2021 for Rainbow Village. Rainbow Village is an organization that helps abused & battered women along with their kids to give them a safe haven to live in.

Below is a PDF wish list of items that they particularly need, though this list is not all they would accept to run their safe haven.

Ms. Lakysha Smith, our clinic worker, is the point person. You can email her or any G.I.F.T.S. leadership with questions.

January's IB Learner Profile is Open-Minded.

Summerour's basketball season is over, but Gwinnett Middle School basketball is not completely done. Summerour Middle School will host Gwinnett's Western Conference Basketball Tournament and the county Championship games to determine the top GCPS middle school teams of 2021-2022.
