Reader's Reef
Reader's Reef is a section of The Shark Tells dedicated to keeping you informed of how SJM is supporting the Read To Succeed initiative implemented by the state. In addition to this, Reader's Reef is where you will find information about literacy, improving reading skills, the benefits of reading, and news from the SJM Library Learning Commons (LLC).
This week, we will begin offering makerspace activities in the LLC during the lunch period for students who are interested in joining. Students will have two days to complete an origami activity resulting in a decorated bookmark. Makerspace activities are open to everyone and provide an opportunity for every student to feel welcome and find something to do in a library. Additionally, these activities allow students to explore varying interests and develop and/or display skills that may not assessed in a regular classroom.
The first meeting of Battle of the Books, a district-wide reading trivia competition, will be held Thursday morning beginning at 7:40am. If your student is interested in participating, but cannot attend the meeting, please have them contact Mrs. Bennett at MBennett001@horrycountyschools.net or stop by the LLC. This year's book titles are pictured.
