Opportunity Launch News

Come join us for an information family night to learn more about D11 opportunities. Information will be presented about automotive, culinary, engineering, and more options for Career & Technical Education. There will be information about job shadows, internships, apprenticeships, and other work-based learning opportunities. We will also have representatives with information about Post-secondary opportunities like tuition-free programs, Pikes Peak State College, and more.

The final Information Night is scheduled for Thursday, January 18, 2024, at Doherty High School, 4515 Barnes Road. A showcase starts at 5:00 pm followed by a presentation at 6:00 pm.

Work-Based Learning is a continuum of activities that occur, in part or in whole, in the workplace, providing the learner with hands-on, real-world experience. Work-Based Learning involves; Site Visits, Recorded Informational Interviews, Work Readiness Training, Job Shadows, Internships andmay Apprenticeships. Students may earn academic credits for work-based learning.

Interested in becoming a 911 Dispatcher? This is an interactive course that will provide you with the essential information to understand the career field. Course begins on January 9, 2024 and is remote on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10:00-11:00 am. Thinking about becoming a Dental Assistant? Sign up for a FREE course that is offered Tuesdays and Thursdays from 7:30-11:30am and 2 Saturdays a month.
