Our District has created the SCS Responsible Restart Comprehensive Guide - one document in one location outlining our District’s policies and procedures. This document should be used as a guide, allowing you to quickly find answers to your questions. The guide can also be found at www.strongnet.org/restart.
As we have seen throughout the pandemic, factors can change on a daily basis and this Guide will remain adjustable and flexible to respond to state and local health guidelines.
SHS & SMS STUDENTS COMPETE IN OPTIMIST ESSAY CONTEST
Nine students from SMS and SHS submitted essays in the annual Optimist Club International essay competition. This year's essay theme was, "Reaching Your Dreams by Choosing Optimism." The essays were judged by members of the Strongsville chapter of Optimist Club International. The winner at the local level, SHS Junior Anya Krishna, will move on to the district level where she will compete for a $2,500 college scholarship. Congratulations to all of the participants and special thanks to the Optimist Club for their generosity and support of our students.

WATCH RECENT SMS ORCHESTRA CONCERTS ON DEMAND
Our SMS 6th Grade Orchestra had two amazing concert performances this February! The Orchestra students practiced hard as a team and their performance showcased the new skills they have learned this year. Both orchestras did an outstanding job. Preparing for this concert taught students how to be resilient, persistent, and how to maintain our skills throughout the various changes in learning formats during the first semester. MUSTANG SPOTLIGHT - MRS. CINDY VACCARIELLO, DATA INPUT SPECIALIST/HR FOR SCS
Mrs. Cindy Vaccariello has been with Strongsville City Schools for five years, working in both Food Services and in her current role in the Human Resources Department. However, Mrs. Vaccariello’s involvement with our District goes much deeper. A resident of our community, she was very involved in PTA while her children were in school. Mrs. Vacciarello served as PTA President for both Chapman Elementary and Albion Middle School and Vice President for PTA at Strongsville High School. She also organized the first parent-run 8th grade Washington DC trip in 2011. This volunteer work led to substitute work and her eventual full time employment with SCS.
“There is a definite sense of community working in our District. Everyone truly works together to bring the best educational experience to our students. This year, people have stepped out of their comfort zones, taken on different roles, and helped wherever they could just to keep things as normal as possible for the kids. I really enjoy working with the people across our District. My job is very fast paced, and I get a great deal of satisfaction spending my work day helping people,” said Mrs. Vaccariello.

SHS SWIMMING COACH TOM STACY EARNS DIVISION I/NORTHWEST DISTRICT COACH OF THE YEAR
Congratulations to Strongsville High School Boys Swimming & Diving Coach Tom Stacy for being named Division I/Northwest District Coach of the Year! Coach Stacy oversees both the boys and girls teams in our District. This year, the teams have 11 swimmers who have qualified and are competing in the State Meet this weekend. Good Luck Mustangs!
SHS NATIONAL ART HONOR SOCIETY STUDENTS DONATE CARE KITS TO CLEVELAND’S HOMELESS
The Strongsville High School National Art Honor Society chapter recently made blankets and put together personal need kits, complete with hand-made positive notes, for a Cleveland homeless shelter. The student group worked with St. John Neumann's Church in Strongsville, which services Cleveland homeless shelters through their participation in a program called FrontLine Service. Special thanks to the 27 SHS Art Honor Society students for their generosity and special community service efforts.
BEST OF LUCK TO THE SHS DANCE TEAM COMPETING IN THE STATE COMPETITION
Best of Luck to our SHS Dance Team as they compete virtually this weekend in the OASSA State Cheer and Dance Championships. The team is a two-time State Championship qualifier and will compete in both the Jazz and Hip-Hop categories. The competing SHS Dance Team members are: Izzy Abruzzino, Natalie Arslanian, Keira Calloway, Annalisa Crowder, Kelly Cunningham, Katie Diab, Reese Dombek, Ella Grebey, Aubrey Kocsis, Caleb Kocsis, Katie Sanuk, Ava Seuffert, Lucy Smith, and Lauren Steinberger.
ATHLETIC BOOSTERS CALENDAR RAFFLE - WIN PRIZES THROUGHOUT APRIL!
The Strongsville Athletic Boosters will be selling Calendar Raffle tickets beginning on March 1st! Tickets are $10 each. Raffle drawings begin April 1st, with a winner chosen each day throughout the month of April! Prizes are worth at least $100/day. Purchase tickets from any participating student-athlete. Strongsville City Schools is now hiring motivated, energetic, part-time professional substitute school bus drivers. This position features great pay ($16.19 per hour), flexible hours, no holidays, and is very rewarding. Requires a CDL Class B, with SP endorsement - TRAINING IS AVAILABLE!

OPT IN FOR TEXT MESSAGES FROM SCS
With the abundance of emails that we all receive on a daily basis, and some being directed to spam or becoming buried in other folders in your email account, it sometimes leaves you without knowing an email was sent. One way to address this issue is to send a text that alerts an email has been sent. Although our texting option is not new for the district, families must opt in to receive our texts. More parent opt ins are needed to make it an effective communication strategy. Please click HERE and follow the directions to opt in to our text messaging service.

Strongsville City Schools encourages students, teachers, staff, parents, and other members of our community to report any instances of potential violence, bullying, self-harm or any other issue where students may be at risk. Girls Go Med Day - Saturday, March 27
Are you a female high school student interested in pursuing a career in medicine? Learn more about what it is like to work in the healthcare field at GIRLS GO MED DAY! Girls Go Med, presented by student members of the American Medical Women’s Association (AMWA) at NEOMED, will feature female physician speakers, interactive stations to provide students with hands-on experiences, and the opportunity to interact with current medical students. The Junior Browns Spring Flag Football League
The Cleveland Browns, in association with the Strongsville Football Backers, are bringing the Junior Browns Spring Flag Football League to Strongsville! The league is open to girls and boys in grades K-6, with competitive play at each grade level. Practices will be held once per week, with games on Sundays beginning in April. Connecting for Kids (CFK) provides education and support to families who have concerns about their child. We serve all families, including those children with and without formal diagnoses. Recording Studio Update
The Strongsville Branch Library Audio studio is currently closed until further notice, but our Video studio is open to those that have already done an orientation. Computer Classes
Cuyahoga County Public Library offers computer classes for beginners to advanced. Classes are currently being held VIRTUALLY using the program Screenleap which requires a web browser and an internet connection. There is no additional software to download. Google Chrome is the recommended browser. A valid email address is required for registration. Registrants will receive an email with a link to join the class at least an hour before the start time.
