It's National Custodian Appreciation Week! Please show some gratitude to our amazing GR custodians!
A Message From Heather Patterson, GRHS Principal
Happy Sunday GRHS Longhorns,
I hope you have been able to enjoy this amazing weather we are having! It is actually beginning to feel like Fall! Friday wrapped up the first six weeks for our Longhorns, so report cards will be viewable in Skyward this Thursday!
I wanted to reiterate the importance of safety and security for our campus. I do daily reminders on the morning announcements and perioodically through the day as needed. I take all tips and threats (real or fake) very seriously. So if you choose to disrupt this campus, you are choosing for me to remove you from our campus to an alternative placement. Our administrative staff is working extra hard to hold the expectations and make GRHS a place that feels safe and inclusive for all. Longhorns, we need your continued help and support, if you see something or hear something, (even if you think it may not be true) please say something. This helps us to quickly investigate the claim and you are doing your part to ensure that the Ranch continues to be a safe and inclusive place to learn each day.
We will continue to practice safety drills each month. Please help us continue to keep all the exterior doors locked during the day, by not opening it (to any one, regardless if you know them or not) or propping it open at any time. Everyone MUST walk around to the front of the building, if the door is locked. We have these manned during all transitions, so that this will become habit, so in the event an emergency we can respond quickly. Please continue to adhere to the expectations of wearing those ID's every day and keeping those airpods/ear buds out of your ears during all instructional time (that your class time) and during the trasitions to and from classes. If have had to scan and purchase another ID ($5) because you lost the first one, please clear up that fine in the library this week. As I have stated before there is a hold on your grades and exemptions until this is paid.
Finally, I do want to give kudos to the majorty of our campus, you are doing a great job following these expectations, and I truly appreciate you helping our Longhorn family stay safe each and every day!
It's National Custodian's Week! We want to thank our custodians for all their hard work and dedication! Their daily hard work makes a positive impact on our campuses and students. We know this is not just a matter of sparkling and shining; it’s about keeping us healthy and safe! Please join me this week in thanking them for all they do to keep the Ranch clean!
ONE LAST OPPORTUNITY! The ABC shirt bundles were distributed last week during all lunches on Tuesday and Wednesday. I'm not sure how you missed this, because there were daily morning announcements and during every lunch, but it is your lucky day. They will be passed out ONE MORE DAY - Friday during all lunches! Don't miss it...this is it!
ID Reminder from the past 3 weeks:
ID's MANDATORY! $5 replacement charges in place now. The first free ID (lanyard and protective case) have all been passed out. This MUST be worn visibly on the top half of your body EVERY DAY! I have been announcing this EVERY SINGLE MORNING and periodically through the day for the past 4 weeks. If you do not have one, this is on you. You have had MANY opportunities to correct this, so now it's your turn to be responsible. Please scan the QR code in this newsletter, in the classroom, or hanging in the front of the school to buy one. We will continue to do ID sweeps, and anyone without one will be charged $5 and given a new one. This is NOT optional, as it is part of dress code. If you keep losing it you will KEEP being charged. You (and your parents) will be getting weekly "fine" email reports, and your parents will be called. Not paying is not an option, and there will be a hold placed on your final semester grades and exemptions will NOT be an option.

BOND 2022 INFO - Maroon Track Bond Town Hall Meeting will be October 17th!
RESTROOM ZONES - KNOW THE RULES!
RESTROOM ZONES ARE IN EFFECT NOW!
This will serve three purposes:
- It will keep students closer in proximity to their scheduled classroom which aligns with our safety and security plan.
- Cuts down on lost instructional time, as they tend to wander and meet up with friends, instead of actually using the restroom and getting back to class.
- It is easier to track (and saves us precious time) when we have to use the cameras to identify vandalism done to the restrooms. (FYI: this results in an ALC placement)
YELLOW ZONE = 1300 & 1500 Hallway/Classrooms (downstairs)
BLUE ZONE = 1400 & 1600 Hallway/Classrooms (downstairs)
GREEN ZONE = 2100 & 2300 Hallway/Classrooms (upstairs)
PURPLE ZONE = 2000 & 2400 Hallway/Classrooms (upstairs)
*Any student found NOT in their correct "zone" starting Wednesday will be assigned consequences.
*No other restrooms should be used. If you are at lunch, you will use the restrooms right beside the cafeteria. If you are in PE/athletice/dance you will use the gym/locker room restrooms. No other students should be in these restrooms throughout the day.

ALL GRHS ID'S HAVE BEEN HANDED OUT! WEARING YOUR NEW ID IS MANDATORY EVERY DAY FOR STAFF AND STUDENTS. You are accountable for following this safety and now dress code expectation every single day. There is a $5 REPLACEMENT CHARGE, so put it in a safe place each day!!
This year, as we continue to increase campus safety measures, students and staff are required to wear their GRHS identification badge at all times. This measure has also been added district wide to the student dress code. This is not a new expectation at GRHS, as I have had this in place for the past 4 years that I have been here, so our students/staff are well aware of this expectation and will be held accountable to it.
Student badges will serve as the student ID and SmartTag all in one card. With this ID our GRHS students are able to ride the bus, purchase breakfast/lunch, check out library books, able to use their personal devices (phones/airpods, etc) during lunch and advisory.
Refusing to wear your ID visibly on the top half of your body, is not an option, and will result in the consequences stated on the consequence chart below. Please make sure you are wearing your OWN ID.
Every GRHS student has been gifted an ID, protective plastic cover, and lanyard. It is imperative that our Longhorns adhere to this expectation, as this is part of the daily dress code for staff and students. If you need another badge or lose this one there is a $5 replacement cost. This is NOT optional, it is part of dress code. You can pay by cash or it will be charged to your student library account, for EACH replacement you need. Please note that a hold will be placed on your semester grades, transcripts, and exemptions if this fine is not cleared.
Need a REPLACEMENT ALREADY?
If you are needing to PURCHASE ANOTHER student ID, please use the QR code (above) to request one. You can either pay $5 cash when you pick it up, or we will charge your school library account if you do not have cash. Emails will be sent in Skyward to parent and student emails each time you are charged.
Choose a safe spot in your backpack to put it at the end of the day (EVERY DAY) and it will be ready and waiting for you the next morning.
