STUDENT SPOTLIGHT
Superintendent Dr. Joseph P. Maruszczak is pleased to announce that two SMHS seniors were awarded the National School Development Council (NESDEC) Award for Academic Growth and Student Leadership in Learning.
The award is presented to high school seniors who have consistently pursued a high level of academic effort and have served as positive role models for the student body.
Congratulations Jorge and Sullivan!
SMHS PEER LEADERS ATTEND TRAINING
Last week SMHS Peer Leaders spent the day at town hall learning team building and training techniques through the ADL's World of Difference program. Their efforts to make SMHS a more inclusive community are appreciated and valued.
Congratulations to all the South Shore League All-Stars selected this fall. It was a very successful season and we can't wait to see what the winter brings in Blue Knight Athletics!
SMHS RHO KAPPA NATIONAL SOCIAL STUDIES HONOR SOCIETY
HELPS PRESERVE OUR TOWN CEMETERY HEADSTONES
On Sunday, November 26, members of SMHS's Rho Kappa had the privilege of helping to preserve one of the oldest burial grounds in our country located right here Sandwich: The Old Town Cemetery.
The cemetery predates the American Revolution, being established in 1663!
Rho Kappa scholars worked tediously to preserve headstones by removing the lichen.
Thank you to Ms. Diana Evans, our Rho Kappa advisor, and SMHS students: Jack Mulcahy, Caroline O'Neil, Dylan McCabe, Charlotte Grant, Hope Curley, and Ahmar Arshad as well as Jennifer Madden from the Sandwich Historical Commission and Mike Geiler from Sandwich's DPW.
