NEWSLETTER | TERM 1 | WEEK 2 | 9 FEBRUARY 2024
The weather was a little bit kinder at the beginning of the week which was lovely for the students as they had the opportunity to enjoy our wonderful outdoor spaces. Today, we celebrated the beginning of the school year with students from St Anthony’s as we joined together for a lovely mass.
Yesterday, I had the privilege of spending time with our Year Six Campers at Woodman Point Recreation Camp. This camp is an important part of the Year Six journey and a great opportunity for our students to foster lasting friendships and make life-long memories. Students participated in activities that enhanced their team building and leadership skills. Yet again, this group of your people impressed me with their outstanding behaviour and willingness to ‘have-a-go’ attitude at some challenging activities. A big thank you also to Mr Rebeiro, Mrs Bowman, Mrs Clarkson and Mrs Irwin for organising such a wonderful experience for our students.
Next week will be the beginning of the Lenten season. Tuesday is traditionally known as Shrove Tuesday and we have organised pancakes for students to enjoy at recess. On Wednesday, as a whole school, we will participate in an Ash Wednesday Liturgy beginning at 11am. Families are welcome to attend.
At the end of last year, CEWA reinforced strict protocols for volunteers working in the school, including parents and grandparents. All volunteers must complete and return the Working with Children Check or Volunteer Declaration before involvement in the school. Parents and child volunteers qualify for an exemption from the Working with Children Check, however, grandparents do not. Volunteers will be required to complete an online forms and produce a copy of thie Working with Children Card to the admin office when they sign in. Copies of the Working with Children Volunteer Declaration are available at the front admin.
Finally, a reminder for families considering holidays during school term. As a school we do not encourage families taking holidays during school time. When students go on extended holidays in school time, parents are required to provide a written email/letter to myself at least two weeks prior to departure. Please note that the school will not provide any work for the student while they are away. Thank you to those families that have already followed this process.
Wishing you all a lovely weekend.
God bless
Rebecca Clarke
Principal

Parking Reminders
The beginning of the school year is a timely reminder to all about parking around the school grounds. Please be mindful of nearby residents’ driveways when parking in the streets and follow the rules outlined by the City of Wanneroo. Additionally, please do not stop at the intersection of Anfield Parade and Ranworth Road. As a school, we strongly encourage parents of students in Year Three to Six to use the Kiss and Drive option for pickup to allow our families in the Early Years a chance to park in the carpark and collect their child from the classroom.
