A Message from the Counseling Department
"The theme for the month of May is Mental Health Awareness Month.
The goal of Mental Health Awareness Month is to raise awareness about mental health by educating the public and advocating for policies that support the millions of people in the U.S. affected by mental illness. At Sweetwater Middle School, our goal is to tend to the mental health needs of all students and staff. Join us as we bring about awareness to mental health and wellness. Let's finish the year off strong, keeping mental health and self-care as a focal priority. "
A Message from the Parent Center
Also, ESL parents, this is a reminder that there will be an ESL Parent Night on Tuesday, May 9th from 6 PM to 7 PM in the Media Center. The meeting will focus on improving ways to serve your students.

From Madisun Bishop, Band Director
I would like to congratulate the following students for their awesome job at the 6th Grade Honor Band this past Saturday! The students learned 3 brand new pieces of music in one day and performed in a concert with students all around the county. Our students represented Sweetwater incredibly well, and we are very proud of them!

For Parents of Special Needs Students
GCPS Parent Mentors share advice for families of students with special needs: ‘Self-Determination – What is it and How can I Support my Child?’
On Thursday, May 11, Gwinnett County Parent Mentors, in collaboration with Gwinnett County Public Schools’ (GCPS) Special Education Department, will host: “Self-Determination – What is it and How can I Support my Child”.
