St. Luke Weekly SMORE
April 10, 2022
Leadership Message
This week between Palm Sunday and Easter Sunday, Holy Week, is the most sacred time of year. During this special time, we enter into the passion of Christ — his crucifixion, death and resurrection. During this week students will be joining together in the Chapel to pray the stations of the cross as a class. We will also prepare our hearts with a special celebration on Holy Thursday. Please join us virtually for this celebration as we prepare for the death and resurrection of Jesus.
I wish you and your family a very blessed, safe and Happy Easter on Sunday as we celebrate this Holy Season.
Blessings on your Lenten Journey,
Cathy Hinger
Principal
We are an APPLE SCHOOL!
St. Luke Catholic School is partnered with APPLE Schools to focus on building a healthy school community. APPLE Schools is the only school health promotion project in Alberta proven to change health outcomes in schools. The project works with vulnerable school communities to improve students’ healthy eating, physical activity, and mental health habits in a cost-effective manner. Each year, APPLE Schools improves the health of more than 20,000 students in 70 schools across northern Alberta, Northwest Territories and Manitoba.
We encourage all our students to bring nutritious snacks and lunch to school each day. As well as bringing a clean water bottle to school each day.
Get Active!
This month we are focusing on how we can get more active! We know that getting active is good for our physical health, but it is great for our mental health as well. Here are some ideas you can use to get active as a family this week:
- Go for a bike ride
- Play frisbee, basketball, volleyball, or baseball
- Walk at night and go stargazing
- Go bowling, skating, or to a museum
