Principal's Message
Hello Springwater Students and Families,
The end of the 12-week grading period is Monday. We hope to see everyone at conferences this coming Tuesday, November 22nd. Conferences will run from 12pm - 3:30pm and 4:30pm - 7:45pm. Snacks will be served!
As mentioned in my last update, we are returning to an in-person, arena style format for conferences this year. All teachers will be available in the Commons. Conferences are a great time to connect with your student's teachers and get all of your questions answered. We will also have staff available if you need help getting access to CANVAS or ParentVue.
The first week after Thanksgiving the entire school will be heading down to Portland Center Stage. On Thursday, December 1st all students will see the play, It's A Wonderful Life. Sack lunches will be provided to students who would normally eat lunch at school. Students can also bring their own sack lunch.
Remember we have a regular school day on Monday, November 21st. There will be no school on Tuesday, November 22nd - Friday, November 25th. We hope everyone has a safe and restful long weekend!
Take care,
Ryan Blaszak

Future Plans After High School: I want to get a degree in criminal psychology and work in that field.
Grade: 9
Interests: I like watching streamers and doing taekwondo. I’ve done that for about 10 years now. And I like watching True Crime shows.
Favorite subject in school: It changes every year, but I think right now it’s Biology.
Favorite thing about STHS: It’s really a tight-knit community. At first I was iffy, but now it’s good. Everybody knows each other. People aren’t mean.
Dani Simon
Future Plans After High School: I want to go to tattoo school or hair school. I want to do freelance so I can take time. I can do what I want when I want to. If I want to drop everything and travel, then I can go travel, but if I want to work for two weeks straight, then I can work for two weeks straight.
Grade: 10
Interests: Makeup and fashion
Favorite subject in school: History. It’s something easy I can remember. I can be like, “This happened in 1982…”, but it’s just a fun subject to learn about what’s happening and how we got to where we are.
Favorite thing about STHS: Probably the vibe. It’s just so chill. This is my third school, and it’s just a good school. Everybody is okay with everybody. There’s not a lot of drama. It’s just calm.
Ben Collins
Future Plans After High School: I’m hoping to go to college. I’m deciding between three colleges- Walla Walla University, University of Washington, or Embry-Riddle. I would like to study Aerospace Engineering.
Grade: 11
Interests: I’m into video games, building computers, and tech-related stuff.
Favorite subject in school: It has always been math. Just solving a problem that’s really hard, you always get that adrenaline rush after it and it feels amazing when I do that. I’ve just been able to get that really fast. It’s been a pleasure.
Favorite thing about STHS: I like how it’s a smaller school and I like the community. At a big school, such as Gresham, you don’t really have a sense of community in the school. Whereas here, you really know everybody. When you’re walking the halls, you can say hi to a random person and start a conversation.
Parent Conferences
This is a reminder that Parent Teacher Conferences are next Tuesday November 22nd from:
- 12:00pm - 3:30pm (Snacks and beverages provided)
- No conferences from 3:30pm - 4:30pm
- 4:30pm - 7:45pm (Snacks and beverages provided)
We are returning to an arena style of conferences. All teachers will be available in our Commons. Please feel free to drop in anytime. This is a great opportunity to meet your students teachers and pick up 12 week grades. Translation services are available.
Retirement Announcement
As December 21st approaches, my last day at Springwater, I find myself feeling so grateful for the opportunity to work at Spirngwater. Mr. Blaszak, every teacher and staff member comes to school every day knowing that every single one of our students MATTERS. That is the beauty of Springwater!!!
To the students of Springwater, thank you for your trust, your courage, your strength, and your vulnerability. Your insight and ability to communicate and repair blows me away everyday.
To the parents and guardians of Springwater students, thank you for allowing me to guide, help, listen to, and care for your children. I know raising young adults is a challenging endeavor. It has been an honor to share some of your struggles and celebrations.
I have been a part of a handful of organizations that I consider magical. My daughter’s first daycare provider, volunteering at the Dougy Center, are just a few. Springwater is at the top of my list of magical places.
With respect,
Linda Centurion

What are Individual Student Reports? The Oregon Department of Education publishes these reports each Fall for school districts to share with parents and guardians. These reports also include information about what these scores mean and how parents / guardians can assist their students as they continue their education.
How do I access these Individual Student Reports? These reports can be accessed through your ParentVue site. See directions here.

Springwater Attendance
If your son/daughter is going to be out for the day please call the office (503-261-4600) and let us know the reason why. Whenever the office is not notified of an absence, a call is made home via the automated calling system. If the student is going to be out more than three days, you can call the office or email your student's teachers with a request for homework. If your student is going to be out of school for extended period of time due to a vacation or some other event, please have him/her complete a Pre-arranged Absence Form. If your student needs to leave school early or arrive late due to appointments, please call the office or send a note to excuse their absence.
Electronic Flyers
Gresham-Barlow Distict has launched a new electronic flyer tool called “Peachjar.” This service allows us to “go green” and will ensure that every flier is delivered to each household. Peachjar will provide flyers directly to your computer, tablet or mobile device.
