IHS Student Success Night-9th & 10th Grade
9th & 10th Grade Student Success Night-Tuesday, October 3rd at 6 pm.
Attention all Students & Parents, The Administration, Counseling Department, & PTSA are excited to announce this year's IHS Student Success Night. Students and parents are invited to attend, as the information provided will be tailored to their academic and college/career readiness needs.
This event will take place in the auditorium at 6:00 pm and will review pertinent information for your success here at Islands High School. A more detailed agenda for both will be posted soon, and we hope you can join us!

October 6th is a Half Day e-Learning Day for Students
Islands High School - E-Learning ½ Day Expectations
Students will work remotely on Friday, October 6, 2023, the established SCCPSS District e-learning day includes a half-day of learning. Students will stay home and learn remotely. Students will not come to campus for learning. Learning will take place asynchronously through our on-line learning platforms, ie. Brightspace or Google Classroom. The e-Learning day begins at 7:30 and ends at 10:30.

This week's faculty/staff spotlight highlights Algebra I teachers, Ms. Caesar and Mr. King as well as US History teachers, Mrs. Thompson and Mr. Lee for making impressive gains in student growth in their respective classes.

Literacy through LightSail
IHS Students in grades 9-11 are using LightSail in their classes to improve their reading skills. Students who engage in reading through LightSail will be able to monitor their reading progress and Lexile growth throughout the year. Students who continually show engagement and progress will be rewarded in an upcoming Hard Work Cafe.

Students are expected to adhere to the school policy for dress down. Tank/halter tops, pajamas, ripped/torn jeans/pants are not allowed. Skirts, dresses, and shorts must be fingertip-length or longer. Leggings must be worn under the appropriate length jumper, skirt, or dress. Leggings are not to be worn as outerwear or pant bottoms.
All shoes must be enclosed and fastened/tied properly. Slides, flip flops, slippers, and Crocs are not allowed at any time. No hats or hoods are to be worn on the head while in the building. Sunglasses are not to be worn in the building. Masks that cover the entire face and/or head are not allowed
2. HOMECOMING PEP RALLY: Thursday, October 5 during school *If students would like the opportunity to compete for their class in the pep rally games, they can purchase a ticket during lunch on Monday, October 2 or Wednesday, October 4 for the chance for their name to be called to participate!
3. HOMECOMING BONFIRE: Thursday, October 5 at 5:30 PM, IHS Parking Lot

HOMECOMING DANCE: Saturday, October 7 from 7 - 10 PM Islands HS Gymnasium Attire: Semi-formal ***HOMECOMING DANCE TICKET INFORMATION: STUDENT TICKETS: Use the QR code on the flyer to purchase your ticket! Make sure to enter the STUDENT'S name when purchasing the ticket. Receipt of the ticket purchase, with the student's name, will be needed to enter the Homecoming Dance.

Community Service Opportunities
Gateway CSB is gearing up for another amazing Brake the Stigma: Mental Health Awareness Car Show on Saturday, October 21st at Pooler’s Tanger Outlets. They are in need of some student volunteers to help with registration, directing traffic, and managing the success of the day. Gulfstream Family Day
We are looking for volunteers on SATURDAY, OCTOBER 14TH FROM 8:30 AM-4:30 PM. Volunteers will serve food under the Jim ‘N Nick’s Community BBQ tent to Gulfstream employees and their families.
All volunteers must be able to be on their feet throughout the shift. On the day of the event, volunteers will be provided with a free continental breakfast and a lunch from Jim ‘N Nicks BBQ, as well as a free Jim ‘N Nick’s t-shirt.

Swim Team Tryouts
Swim season tryouts will be Oct 11, 2023, from 5:30-6:30pm at the Chatham County Aquatic Center located at 7240 Sallie Mood Dr.
Swimmers will need to be dressed in a swimsuit and ready to begin immediately at 5:30. Swimmers should also have googles and a swim cap, and have on proper swim team attire.
