The Owl Post
September 22, 2023
Hello Vernon Families and Friends,
We are four weeks into the 2023-2024 School Year. Thank you to all of the fabulous Vernon staff, families, and students for helping us get off to such a great start. It was great to see so many families at our Back to School Night last week. I am truly inspired by the staff, students, and families at Vernon. We are looking forward to an amazing year of learning at Vernon!
Our average daily attendance is currently at an average of 94.4% as a school. We are aiming for 95% or more, so keep up the great work. The more school a student attends, the more likely they are to be connected and grow as learners. Thank you in advance for helping all of our students make it to school as much as possible.
We will be sharing some of the amazing work that is being done in the classrooms at Vernon. Be on the lookout for photos, articles, and other creative ways to share all the good things going on in school.
Have a wonderful weekend.
Vernon Proud!

OBOB Information Night for Families of 3-5th Graders
Hello Vernon families!
You are invited to join us for an informational meeting about Oregon Battle of the Books (OBOB) opportunities for students in Grades 3-5 on Thursday, September 28 at 7:00 PM via Google Meet. Join us using this link: https://meet.google.com/vgr-wwxe-mlt .
OBOB is an exciting program where students read a series of books and then compete with a team to test their knowledge. Whether you're new to OBOB and just checking things out, or if you're returning and wanting to learn more about OBOB this year, we'd love to see you there! During the meeting, we will discuss the book list, the schedule for the coming year, student and parent roles, and other important information about OBOB at Vernon this year.
If you are not able to join us, not to worry! The informational document will be shared with families through Remind after the event. If you have any questions, please feel welcome to contact Mrs. Wilkins at jwilkins@pps.net.
