This Thursday is a very special evening at Edgelea. We will be celebrating Lilly the Edgelea Dog and Mrs. Angie Houston with a benefit event. It is called Hot Diggity Dog Family Fun! We are selling hotdogs, chips, treats, and waters for $1 each. We will have lots of fun activities for kids including kindness rock painting, cake walk, photos with Lilly, and other fun events. All kids activities are free, however, we are asking for a donation/goodwill offering for Mrs. Houston. It is our hope to raise funds to help offset medical expenses for Mrs. Houston. We will also be selling t-shirts and doing some creative and amazing raffles. The event will be Thursday from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm. We hope you can come and enjoy the fun while supporting our wonderful Mrs. Houston. For more information, see our flyers below.

We are selling adult and children's t-shirts for Mrs. Houston's benefit. The t-shirts are available now and we will sell them Thursday night as well. You can send money in with students or stop in the front office and purchase one. Students may wear their t-shirts on Thursday and/or Friday. The cost is $10 for kids and $12 for adults. The t-shirts say "Kindness Rocks"

The cost of the Edgelea year book is $10. Orders are due by March 20th. Forms have already be sent home. If you need an additional form, please call the school or send your child into the front office.

Please note we have a date change for the second grade musical and Fine Arts Night. It was originally scheduled for March 5th. The new date is THURSDAY, MARCH 12th. Families are welcome to come to Edgelea and look at the children's art on display from 6:00-7:00 pm. Second graders will meet in their classrooms at 6:30 and the second grade musical will start at 7:00 pm in the gym/cafeteria.

We are in NEED of boys and girls sweat pants or jeans sizes 6-12 for our nurses office. We have children who have accidents but we also have children who spill breakfast and lunch on themselves. Please add this to your parent newsletters.

Kindergarten Roundup is MARCH 10 from 4-7. Please spread the word to families that might have an incoming kindergarten student. Children must be 5 by August 1, 2020 to enroll in kindergarten for the 2020-2021 school year.

Children that will be 5 between August 2-September 30 may take an enrollment test for possible early entrance into kindergarten. According to LSC policy, any child turning 5 on Oct. 1 or later will have to wait until the 2012-2022 school year.

PLEASE MAKE SURE YOUR CHILD IS READING NIGHTLY!!

IREAD-3 is a test that is required by state law. This test measures reading skill of third grade students. Students who do not pass IREAD-3 in the spring will have an opportunity for remediation and are able to retest after the end of school. It is very important that your child spend time reading each evening in order for them to be best prepared for this upcoming March 2019 test.

Students who do not pass the spring and summer administrations of IREAD-3 will continue to receive instruction in Grade 3 reading, will officially be reported as a third grader, and will fully participate in the Grade 3 ILEARNassessment.
