KINDERGARTEN UPDATE
February 23, 2024
Greeting SELC PK Families,
This was a different week for Eaglets with a day off for President's Day followed by a no school day for professional learning.
As we continue to honor Black History Month, Eaglets will be learning about Elijah McCoy. Elijah was a mechanical engineer and a foreman. When working on trains, coal needed to be added into the engines to keep going. The wheels on the train got so hot the trains had to stop so that the engineers could grease the wheels. Mr. McCoy invented a special cup where it was needed to add oil so that the train would not have to stop to grease the axels and bearings on the train. This aligns to Eaglets exploration of mixing liquids such as oil and water while they investigate matter. To learn more about Elijah click the link below.
A FEW REMINDERS:
- Tuesday February 27th is Family Science Night here at SELC from 6:00-7:00 in the gym! We look forward to seeing you!
- Remember to share any changes to your child's emergency contact information! If you have a new phone number, email, or additions or deletions to people allowed to pick your child up, let your child teacher know ASAP.
