The Wildcat Week Ahead
2/12 - 2/16
Hi GIS Families!
I'm very behind on getting universal testing results out to some families. I'm slowly working through the requests and hope to be done this week.
As you might have seen on FaceBook this past week, our new rock wall installation was finished. This project was months in the making, and we're so fortunate to have worked with High 5 to make it a reality. The new wall is floor-to-ceiling with ropes for up to four climbers at a time. It has impressive pop-out features and is so sharp looking! We're excited to get kids climbing!
This week, we have our first ski and ride day of the season. The bus will leave at 7:45 AM, so please arrive by 7:30 to get your gear loaded. The kids will be back for the afternoon bus run. Please do not send your kiddo with money; all food and snacks should be packed with them.
SECURITY CAMERAS
I've had one or two questions about cameras and their use, and it's essential information for everyone to know. Our cameras are up and running. I am not keeping the application open to view the cameras daily because the purpose of the cameras is to aid in investigations.
If there is an active investigation, the cameras will be utilized if it's crucial to understanding the situation better. On the other hand, if a student comes to a staff member and says, "Someone was running down the hall," I would not use the cameras in that instance. Day-to-day behaviors will not be watched on the cameras.
As always, my door and inbox are always open,
Mrs. H

What's Been Goin' On @ GIS?
In French 🇫🇷
Students celebrated the 100th day of school in French class by doing CENT (=100) physical exercises in French and by counting CENT (=100) objects in French!
Students learned about the French holiday called La Chandeleur, when French people make crêpes. If you flip your crêpe over in your pan while holding a gold coin, you will have good luck all year. Needless to say, every student gave it a try!
In 3rd Grade
Students took a trip to Casella Waste to learn about recycling and what happens with trash! Pictures to come!
In Kindergarten
Students went on a scavenger hunt for CCVC (constant, constant, vowel, constant) words! (Flag and Frog are examples of CCVC words)
Kindergarten Registration for the 24/25 School Year is Open
5th and 6th Grade Dance
5th and 6th Grade “Valentine’s/Winter” Dance!
The Student Council will be hosting a “Valentine’s/Winter” themed-dance on Friday, February 16 from dismissal until 5:00PM. This dance is for Grand Isle students in grades 5 and 6 only and will be held in the cafeteria. Admission to the dance is free of charge, and there will be some snacks available for purchase (everything is $1-$2). If your student(s) is able to attend, please email Sarah Allen at sallen@gisu.org or Cathie Larson at clarson@gisu.org with your permission. Any student without permission will have to follow their regular dismissal plans for that day.
If you have any questions, please email Cathie or Sarah (Student Council Advisors).
Thank you!
