SCHOOLWIDE NEWS
Teacher of the Year
Gini Mann-Deibert, our Internship Coordinator and Business Teacher, was chosen by her peers to be the 2024 SD Met Teacher of the Year. In addition, she, with the help of Ms. Kohmescher, successfully secured a $2,000 grant from California Coast Credit Union to use on Patch and Pond and other projects. Congratulations and Thank You, Ms. Mann-Deibert!
Classified Employee of the Year
Congratulations to Sylvia Hoffman, our Administrative Assistant, who was named SD Met Classified Employee of the Year! Most of you know Ms. Sylvia because she supported you and your student with enrollment, and she was probably the first person you saw when you came to the Met. Thanks to Sylvia for all the many ways you support our Met community!
COMMUNITY NEWS
Community Club Event THIS Weekend
All are welcome to join Community Club to restore native plants to Rose Canyon in UTC this Saturday morning. See flyer for more details.
And Then There Were None
Innovation Family Community Theater will be presenting an all-Met student production of Agatha Christie's "And Then There Were None." Tickets for the March 15 & 16 shows are available at the IFCT website. Save the date to come out and celebrate our Met talent!
COLLEGE AND CAREER CORNER
Mesa College classes begin January 29
Parents, please support your students as they begin this new Mesa Spring 2024 Semester that starts on Monday, January 29.
Keep in mind that:
• Your student should look up the books needed for class and go to the bookstore and get them THIS WEEK(tomorrow!)! It will be busier next week. The Met covers the cost of books.
• If you are taking an online class, it will not be available in Canvas until January 29.
• Students should monitor their MESA COLLEGE EMAIL to make sure they catch all communications from Mesa.
• Students should set up their Mesa email ASAP if they have not already done so..
• Students need to be on time to their classes or they could be dropped from the class.
• Students can still sign up for a college class by crashing a class when the semester starts. If it's online they can email the professor and ask for an add code or in-person they must go to the classroom on the first day of class.
If students have any questions, they should refer to Mr. Moravec’s Google Classroom, ask their Advisor, or ask Mr. Moravec directly.
FAFSA and CADAA Announcement
Information and support for FAFSA/CADAA can be found here. No matter your pathway, there is money to help.

REMINDERS
Calling students out for appointments or similar
This is a gentle reminder that parents/guardians must inform our office prior to students leaving campus. This is for the sake of student safety and being aware of where our students are. If you need to call out your student, please contact Suzana Valis via phone (619-388-2529) or email (svalis@sandi.net). We will issue your student a blue slip, and only then are they allowed to leave campus. Thank you for supporting the safety of your students!
