A Note From Principal May
Dear Station Families,
I hope this message finds you well. As we continue another successful academic year, I want to take a moment to emphasize the critical role that regular attendance plays in your child's education. Attending school consistently is not only a legal requirement but also a fundamental component of academic success. Regular attendance fosters a sense of responsibility, discipline, and time management in students. It ensures that they are actively engaged in the learning process, benefiting from the valuable interactions with teachers and peers. Missed days can result in missed opportunities for learning and can create gaps in understanding that may be challenging to fill. Our dedicated educators work hard to provide a nurturing and stimulating learning environment, and your child's consistent presence is key to maximizing the benefits of their education. I urge you to prioritize and encourage punctuality and attendance, as it lays the foundation for a successful academic journey.
Thank you for your continued support.
Sincerely,
Chad May
Principal Station Middle School
Cold Weather Reminder
Dear Parents,
As cold weather makes its way to our area, I would like to share a reminder of our morning routine at Station Campus. School doors open at 8:25 AM daily. Please note that there is no supervision provided before this time, and with colder temperatures ahead, we want to encourage you to arrive no earlier than that time. As with all matters, we value your help to ensure the safety and well-being of our students.
Sincerely,
Tim Haupt
Information for 8th Grade Families
Dear 8th Grade Parents,
We are excited to announce that on the morning of December 15, representatives from Barrington High School will be visiting our 8th-grade students. The high school counselors will be providing valuable information regarding course offerings, extracurricular activities, and the transition to high school. This visit is an excellent opportunity for our students to gain insights into the exciting academic and social opportunities that await them in the next phase of their education. We encourage all 8th-grade students to actively participate and make the most of this informative session. Please mark the date on your calendars, and we look forward to a productive and engaging visit from Barrington High School. The High School staff will also be hosting an online event on December 7th, to ensure that parents are also well informed about the academic options available to students at BHS.
Best Regards,
Jessica Buchanan
Assistant Principal for Student Services
A Note From Nurse Byers
As colder weather sets in, it becomes crucial for students to prioritize their health and well-being. The changing seasons bring with them a higher risk of colds and flu, making it essential for everyone to practice good hygiene. Remind students to wash their hands frequently, especially before meals and after using shared spaces. Encourage them to dress warmly in layers to protect against the chilly temperatures. Adequate sleep is also vital in maintaining a robust immune system, so emphasize the importance of a consistent sleep schedule. Additionally, staying hydrated remains crucial even in colder weather, as it supports overall health and helps fend off illnesses. Finally, don't forget to remind students to maintain a balanced diet rich in fruits and vegetables to provide essential nutrients that support their immune systems. By adopting these habits, students can better navigate the colder months and focus on their academic endeavors with a stronger and healthier foundation.
Counselor Connection
“Community is about doing something together to make belonging matter.” -Brian Solis
Station realizes the importance of a positive school community on the students’ experience. That is why the school continually works to build connections and a sense of togetherness. Therefore, our SEL lessons for the months of November and December will focus on the theme of community. 6th and 7th graders will reflect on their roles in each of their communities. All students will practice the art of gratitude by writing thank you letters to our staff. 8th graders will momentarily deviate from the collective theme to get ready for high school course selection.
Something for you! As you are probably aware an “attitude of gratitude” has become increasingly popular. There is merit to this and studies show that giving thanks can make you happier! BStrongTogether, our community’s own outreach program, has put together a 30 Day Gratitude Challenge for you! Enjoy!
Finally, the counselors thank you! We appreciate your support and continued collaboration. We are truly grateful.
