Point View School
NEWSLETTER - Week 5 - 25 August 2021
PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE
The sudden change in our lives last Tuesday was expected so we were well prepared as a school and able to react fast. Staff worked together, sharing their skills and resources with each other and with Point View families, to support distance learning to be as effective as we can make it. I thank the whole school community for collaborating in such a constructive way.
Now, as new daily routines become established, we wait for developments in the Covid outbreak to see what is around the next corner.
What I have just described is an illustration of an uncertain world which demands that we help our children learn skills and develop certain capabilities to flourish. They must learn how to plan and how to adapt these plans as circumstances dictate. They need to be highly effective collaborators and caring, contributing community members. They must be able to withstand uncertainty, managing their fears and anxieties so that they remain open to learning at every opportunity.
The school is pleased to support all families to continue learning together at home and we wish our community a short, safe, and healthy lockdown.
As we follow our plans as closely as we are able, I am very pleased to welcome Mrs Kay Morris back to our school to start a New Entrant class in Room 28. Kay’s wealth of experience and detailed knowledge of Point View enables her to provide the very best environment for those who are arriving during the rest of Term 3, whilst also supporting others in our Junior Team.
We farewell Mrs Suzy Green. Suzy has taught across the whole school as a part-time and relief teacher since 2008. We all wish her the very best for the future. To take her place in Room 7, we welcome Mrs Clare Van Kuijk to our school. Clare is an experienced teacher and we look forward to working alongside her very soon.
Mā te wā (until the next time)
Robin Kirkham
Principal
