If you're NEW to OHVA, check out these resources and info you need:

On the First Day: Log into the school system between 8 and 8:30 to see your student's Class Connect (Events) Schedule. This varies by student, but those live classes are the priority to plan the day. You should see an orientation offered, along with other live classes and lessons to do.


Who can you ask for help? Your ADVISOR is your champion for questions and support as you begin OHVA. You can also visit HELP.K12.COM to search for HOW-TO info!

NOTE: F2F (face-to-face) requirements are paused due to the pandemic, but we will have in person activities that follow CDC guidelines and online activities as well!

State Testing for 23-24
Mark your calendars for your student's STATE TESTING DATES! Your student must attend in person, so make sure to arrange for transportation.
Many Learning Coaches Recommend Instant Ink
Note that OHVA does not provide printer ink other than the small starter cartridge sent with the printer. Many LC's like the subscription service for Instant Ink. This is not an endorsement by the school, but is a tip shared by parent Boosters.

Eventbrite & OHVA Events

Just a heads up for you! We use Eventbrite for you to register for events and then check you in using Eventbrite, too. You should know your student's ID# when registering.

Know Your Student's ID # - Here's How
Look up your student's ID# and then SAVE IT to your phone or someplace handy. You need this for registering to attend events, club sign ups, and more.
Order a Student ID Card for $2.55 (optional)
All students will have a digital ID available through the OHVA APP. If you'd like a plastic card style ID, you can order one here.

What's the K12 ZONE?

Here's some helpful info you need to know about it:

  • This social interactive software will start out for 6th Graders only.
  • We will keep you posted when it is ready for other grades.
  • It will be great to look forward to this fun and safe way for students to connect.
  • For now, stay tuned to school messaging and announcements as we update you in the weeks/months ahead.

Your Advisor is Here to Help!

Advisors empower families to increase their involvement and assist in their student’s education, facilitate engagement in school activities and provide clear and consistent communication regarding school expectations and activities.


Advisors:

  • are your primary point of contact
  • facilitate live orientation sessions
  • help with non-instructional issues
  • hold weekly homeroom sessions for MS/HS students
  • monitor overall attendance
  • help students and learning coaches on individual catch up plans
  • guide students in developing effective home study skills and time management
  • help with re-registration

Class Connect!

Class Connect is OHVA's online classroom where students gather for instruction with our teachers and staff. Even parents use Class Connect for online meetings and gatherings. In class your student may use tools to engage and learn:


  • a microphone
  • webcam
  • chat
  • whiteboard
  • videos

  • K12 provides McAfee Web Protection on K12 -provided computers. Parents are also able to block specific websites from within their browsers. Here is a tutorial on how to block websites from the browser: Click here
  • It is best to not block YouTube as many teachers use this for educational videos in classes.
  • Your password is Yours, and Yours Alone. As the adult Learning Coach, you need to be the one to enter attendance and have access to answer keys.

Title IX Notice

Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972, 20 U.S.C.
