Attendance Procedures
If your student will be absent, please call the attendance line at 503-825-5510 or email SherwoodMiddle_Notification@sherwood.k12.or.us by 8:30am. Please leave your name, your student’s name and the reason for the absence. This is a 24-hour line. Parents of students who are absent each day will be called if the school has not been notified.
In addition to the current phone and email methods for excusing absences parents of middle and high school students will also be able to excuse absences through ParentVUE. This method is available only for full-day absences for the current day and future days.
To excuse an absence through ParentVUE, click the "Report Absence" button next to your student's picture on the home screen. Then, select the date(s) and choose a reason for the absence. You may also enter a note and upload any supporting documents. Click "Save" to submit. The attendance office will review your submission and update your student's attendance record.
School Administered Medication
Oregon law and Oregon Administrative Rules require that all prescription and nonprescription medicine be administered to students by trained school personnel.
Parents must complete and sign a Medications Form authorizing school staff to administer any prescription or non-prescription medications. This form is required for all medications, even cough drops! (click here for medication forms)
Parents must deliver and pick up all medication. Medication must be in its original container (pharmacies will issue a transport bottle if requested when having the prescription filled.)
Written physician instructions (prescription label) are required for all requests to administer prescription medication. Instructions must include: name of student, name of medication, dosage, route, frequency of administration and any special instructions.
Superintendent Meet & Greet/Listening Session
Our new Superintendent Dr. Jeremy Lyon will be hosting an opportunity on Thursday, September 8th to meet members of the community, answer questions about the upcoming school year, and discuss the proposed social science curriculum for grades K-5. This will be the first of several community engagement opportunities with Dr. Lyon in the coming school year.
Please join us at Ridges Elementary in the Laurel Side Cafeteria on Thursday, September 8th, 6:00-7:30pm.
