Working Bee
A huge thank you to everyone who came along today... the sense of community spirit is alive and well with Inglewood Primary School.
The new flying flow soft fall was shovelled as was the new soft fall within the junior playground. The plastic tubing was replaced on the chain, the sandpit was extended, new planter boxes installed and a mud kitchen area ready to be plumbed in.
Tree and shrubs from the front area were trimmed or removed to allow for the new Waharoa to be installed when it is finished being carved.
Plants were transferred or newly planted along the learner mountain bike trike along the length of the rugby field and also up on the football field weaving in and out where the new concrete flat track will be laid over the next few weeks.
Our hard working Board of Trustees, staff and parents enjoyed a sausage n bread for lunch.
Many, many thanks to all ( around fifty) people who came along to. Improve our outdoor environment.
The joy on the faces of the kids who helped today was priceless and we can’t wait to see the kids faces tomorrow who will be surprised to see the changes.

Road Relay
On Monday we had four teams compete in this event. Each student completes a 1.5 km run in a relay around Kaimata St, Brooklands Rd, up the hill to the zoo and through the park to the finish line. The weather improved as the day went on and it was wonderful to be in Brooklands Park. All our students did exceedingly well in a large field of schools. Below are some action shots for the day. Hayley Storer, Kaitlyn Antill and Luke Richardson all ran two consecutive laps. The boys came in 5th. Awesome job.
Dangers in Miro Street
We need supporters of the school to step up and man this crossing. It requires adult supervision and support. We will no longer have student wardens out on patrol if there is no adult. It is simply too complex to control. We need the community to get behind this as many voiced after the death of Emma Warren. We do not want any further close calls or tragedies. People felt strongly and now is the time for action. We want our children to be safe. Message, call or email the office. Just 20-30 minutes once a week could save lives. You can even share a slot with someone morning or afternoon. We generously had Lynn Leighton manning the patrol every morning over these last two years and we thank her for this. Now what contribution can you make? Our advice from the Police Education Officer, if the crossing is not manned by wardens all trafffic must yield to pedestrians by law.
School Involvement and Achievements for 2019
As we come to the end of the year we like to ensure we have all the details of your child’s achievements over the year. If your child has competed at national level in any sporting or cultural field, we want to know. This is especially important when considering nominations for awards. We cannot act if we do not know. Send a list of your child’s achievements to the office, including the grade or placing, the date/s and the event or competition. Or email office@inglewood.school.nz. Thank you.
