Curtis Chronicles
January 25, 2022
Hello from Curtis Principal, Sonya Pitcock
Cougar families,
We hope everyone is doing well and staying healthy! The season of course selection is upon us and we are working with Lowery and all our feeder schools to get everyone ready for classes for next year already! So exciting! It will be very important to continue to check our Counselor’s Page for information about deadlines and meetings throughout the next few months.
For our current 8th graders:
January 25 – Skyward closes for course selection
January 25 – LFC Coffee with the Counselors
February 4 – All applications due
For our current 7th graders:
January 31 – Students will get information through Tracks on course selection AND parent video will be live on the Counselor’s Page with the same information
February 2-3 – Counselors will be visiting Tracks classes to answer questions and talk with students about courses
February 8 – Informal parent meeting at Curtis from 6:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. in the cafeteria for parents to talk with teachers, counselors, and administrators about course selection and/or ask questions. There will not be a formal presentation so this is a come and go event.
February 14 – Coffee with the Counselors 8:30 a.m. – 10:00 a.m. in Curtis Lounge (open to 6th and 7th grade parents)
February 18 – Skyward closes for course selection
February 25 – All applications due
For our current 6th graders:
The elementary counselors will be walking students through the course registration process on campus and communicating information to parents. Our Curtis counselors will be visiting the elementary campuses the week of February 7-11 to talk to students. Coffee with the counselors is open for 6th and 7th grade parents.
Our new Cougar Paw system has been going well with SO many students keeping their paws and enjoying Cougar Time on Fridays! We are proud of the adjustments they have made to keep up with their card and make sure they are following the campus expectations in the halls and classes. We know they will keep working hard!
Students are also doing a pretty good job having their chromebooks on campus and charged, however, we still need to work on the charged part! Remind them to charge their chromebook when they charge their phones each night! Thanks!
Lastly, please remember that we need your cooperation in the pick up line to keep the line moving. If your child is not coming out of the building until 3:40 p.m. or later, you can park in the parking area instead of the in curbside line so we can keep the cars moving. We appreciate your help with this.
Thank you so much for the snacks and goodies for our after school meetings. Our staff truly feels the support from our parents as we work to improve for our students!
Sincerely,
Sonya Pitcock
Principal, Curtis Middle School
