Dear Student, Families, & Friends,
Last weekend, Father John V. Doyle School’s seventh and eighth grade students enjoyed a fun-filled, as well as educational, class trip to Washington, DC! Upon arrival, students and chaperons had time to explore the Smithsonian Museums of Air and Space, Natural History, and American History before eating dinner together. A guided nighttime tour then brought them to the Lincoln Memorial, Korean War Veterans Memorial, and Vietnam Veterans Memorial.
The second day started at Arlington National Cemetery where the group toured the grounds and visited the Tomb of the Unknown Soldiers. While studying the Holocaust in class, students were prepared for their next experience of visiting the Holocaust Memorial Museum. They gained a deeper appreciation of this time in history as they wrote reflections for one of the trip’s many journal entries. Their sightseeing tour continued with the Jefferson Memorial, the Washington Monument, and the Martin Luther King, Jr. National Memorial. After dinner, students had fun rubbing elbows with the rich and famous at Madame Tussaud’s Wax Museum! A few of our students even hopped aboard to join George Washington in crossing the Potomac!
The weekend proved just as busy as students and chaperons toured the Capitol Building and the Newseum along with photo stops at the Library of Congress and U.S. Supreme Court. Later, friends relaxed by sharing dinner followed by an evening of bowling!
Celebrating the Eucharist together at the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception was the perfect way to begin the last day of the trip. Everyone was impressed with the beauty and history of the Basilica. Their last stop was the National Zoo, where they encountered pandas, lions, reptiles, and primates!
Students in grades preK through 6 back at school prayed for their successful trip and were happy to welcome our students home when they returned on Monday morning! We thank Mr. Godin and Mrs. Laboissonniere, as well as our parent chaperons and volunteers, for giving of their time to offer this wonderful experience to our students!
As always, Thank You for your support of Father John V. Doyle School!

Bottle Cap Drive
We’re excited to share that our school is part of the Coca-Cola Give program. This opens up Father John V. Doyle School to new funding opportunities to help improve learning environments for students. The best part? Donations don’t come out of your own pocket. When you make Coca-Cola purchases, you simply send in bottle caps or product codes from boxes of beverages and our school receives a donation. We have already received one check for almost $50 with low key promotion. Now it’s time to “kick it up a notch.”
All caps and codes should be sent to Mr. Godin. Codes will be entered on one account to gain larger and quicker donations.
Thank you!
