Our mindset within the Fowler community is that our school is a safe and affirming place for all students. With that as a guiding principle, it is important that each student, and community member, use safe, school appropriate language when we are on campus together. The use of any harmful/hateful language has no place here. Thank you for making our school community as strong as possible.

MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL

Dear Fowler Families,

We hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving with family and friends! We are excited to get back into gear with students for the three short weeks until winter break. Our goal is to maximize student focus in this holiday window and we encourage you to check ParentVue and Canvas frequently to ensure students are caught up or check in with teachers to identify any missing work as the two-week vacation is a great time to get ahead in reading, practice iReady, or complete missing work/projects.

Speaking of work, there are multiple LSA positions in our district including Special Education and ELD jobs that we would love to fill. If you speak Spanish or have an interest in working with smaller groups of students, this could be a great fit for you. Please take a look at open positions at Fowler and other positions within the district.

This is the last week for Homework Help, it ends on November 30. (It WILL resume after Winter Break when Winter ASAs begin.) Affinity groups will continue unless otherwise noted.

Report Cards are ready. We do not send report cards home via mail. Please sign into ParentVue and StudentVue. You may access them under the “Documents” tab.

Documents Tab: It will be the document at the top and will be labeled Quarter 1 Report Card (23-24).

Poinsettia Pick Up this Friday! Dec. 1 12:30-4:00pm

Poinsettias are arriving on Friday, December 1st!!! If you ordered a poinsettia, please stop by the Fowler office on the 1st any time between 12:30 and 4:00pm to pick up your plant!!! Any plants that are not picked up will be left in the office for you to pick up the following week. Please email Angela Swensen aswensen@ttsd.k12.or.us if you have any questions or concerns. HELPFUL HINTS

This is a reminder that the district office has a Transportation Feedback Form which allows parents to share their concerns about a bus. This helps the transportation department monitor and document concerns and complaints regarding buses and their routes. You can locate this form either on the Fowler Middle School website on the front page under Fast Links. (bottom right of page) In addition, it will remain in our Helpful Links at the bottom of this publication.

Inclement Weather: With December just around the corner, we want to be sure that families know where to go to get information regarding closures, or 2 hour late starts, and snow routes.

In the event of an emergency/school closure or change, the district will communicate with parents using one or more of the following methods:

FlashAlert – Free subscription service that alerts subscribers via email, cell phone, or mobile app https://www.flashalert.net/signup/ We encourage you to sign up for the FlashAlert system.
Tigard-Tualatin SD mobile app: Alerts will be sent to the mobile app, which can be downloaded through google play or apple stores.
District-generated email, text, or calls through Blackboard Connect – the email or phone numbers you provided at your student's enrollment are the contacts we will use to notify you of inclement weather and urgent notifications.

In order to receive communication from the District, please be sure to give your most update phone numbers, email addresses and emergency contact information the the school office staff to be updated in our information system. THE EASIEST WAY TO DO THIS IS TO EMAIL FOWLEROFFICE@TTSD.K12.OR.USWe DO require that these requests are made in writing.

If a 2 hour late start is called, school will begin at 10:30, no matter the day of the week. For instance, if it’s a Wednesday, which is typically a late start arrival at 9:30am, it would be a 10:30am start in the event of a 2 hour late start.
