Straight from the Hardt
Hello Ridgeline Families-- We certainly enjoyed our first full week of the new year! Since the semester doesn’t end before Christmas break, it can be a bit of a shock to students when we come back in January and jump right back into academics--full swing. That’s because we only have a few weeks left in the semester and finals January 26 and 27. This is a critical time to talk with your student about any possible missing assignments, check powerschool, and email their teachers if you have ANY questions or concerns.
It was a busy week for student-athletes and their fans as we enjoyed basketball, wrestling, and gymnastics- something every day! We enjoyed a real nice MLK program, featuring a musical tribute from the Ridgeline Orchestra and guest speaker James Layman.
Students in Government and Civics courses recognized Temperance and Citizenship Day today with some historical perspective on what it means and ended with students having the opportunity to register to vote. It was a nice connection to the world for students.
Our Unified basketball team is more than excited for their games tonight--- it’s all I’ve heard about all week!
You know what is impressive? Gymnasts! As I watched our girls gymnastics team I was struck by how much athleticism, balance, timing, and pure strength is necessary to compete in the four exercises. Those girls are strong!
I’m pictured today here with members of our championship robotics team. They have been highly successful and will be heading to state level competitions later this month!
No School Monday so make it a great 3-day weekend! –Mr. Hardt
Student Services
FAFSA Assistance Events
Now that the college acceptance letters have begun to land in mail/inboxes, many folks may still have questions about financial aid and the resources available to fund their student’s post-secondary pursuits. To reiterate, filing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is foundational to the college financial aid process. If you have not done so, there is still time to complete it before we reach most college and university priority filing deadlines. What’s more, there are resources to help parents/guardians file right here in our own community!
Spokane Teacher’s Credit Union (STCU) hosted two FAFSA Assistance Events in the fall and will offer three additional events during the next 6 weeks. For each of these events, STCU and The College Success Foundation (CSF) will provide families with onsite help with the FAFSA-filing process! And you do not need to be a STCU member to participate! The dates, times, and locations are outlined below:
Thursday, January 19
Time: 5:30 – 7:30 p.m.
Location: STCU Northtown Square Branch / 4747 N. Division St., Suite 105 / Spokane, WA 99207
Tuesday, February 7
Time: 5:30 – 7:30 p.m.
Location: STCU North Spokane Branch / 207 E. Hastings Road / Spokane, WA 99218
Thursday, February 16
Time: 5:30 – 7:30 p.m.
STCU Spokane Valley Branch / 13501 E. Sprague Ave. / Spokane Valley, WA 99216
If you plan to attend one of these events, here is a link to helpful checklist for preparation: STCU's FAFSA Assistance webpage.

Falcon Robotics
Falcons Robotics sent two teams to the Regional FTC Robotics Tournament in Richland. The "Green" team's alliance won the tournament and the "White" team took 4th overall. With this win Green team secured a stop to the State Tournament on January 28th in Seattle. Furthermore, the Green team won best overall team by winning the Inspire Award, securing another bid to State.
Ridgeline Falcons Gymnasts
Our Ridgeline Falcons Gymnasts scored second with a 152.62 points, beating out four other teams. A huge congratulations to Bella DeLaRosa who placed second in the All Around with a total score of 34.025. She also placed first on vault and beam. On vault she scored a 8.95 and a 8.80 on beam.

Temperance and Good Citizenship Day
Ridgeline juniors and seniors celebrated Temperance and Good Citizenship Day today by learning about active citizenship and having the opportunity to register to vote in their social studies classes. Students aged 16 & 17 also had the opportunity to pre-register to vote. Today was supported by JSA students who created informational posters about voting. Excited to see our students actively participate in our democracy when they come of age!
