Term 4
Here are some of the wonderful events and happenings since Ag Day at the end of last term and from Term 4 so far.
From Ag Day to Book Week we have a little bit of everything to update you on this term's events.
AG DAY
Ag Day 2023
ECCS AG DAY GROUP DAY
Ag Day Group Day
Following on from Ag Day, Ardmore School were host this year to the ECCS Ag Day Group Day. This annual event is when ECCS schools all compete with their Ag Day lambs, goats or calves.
This was also an opportunity for our PSG to provide a sausage sizzle for those who attended.
WELCOME
We are delighted to welcome Mr Nigel Strickland to the staff. He is our new caretaker taking over from Mr Kotze.
BOOK WEEK
What a fabulous week we had earlier this term. The week started with PJ & Movie Day and ended in Book Character Day. Along the way the children enjoyed being read to by various staff members, had some fun activities and the opportunity to purchase books from our Scholastic Book Fair. A big thank you to Miss Sangster for all her hard work making this week such a success.
ENVIRO GROUP
The Enviro Group has been very busy this term! We started off with our Compost Collective talk which helped us understand our next steps to get our compost programme up and running for next year. We participated in a series of education sessions with Whitebait Connection learning about our local awa and how to protect the creatures living in it. We even got a chance to go down and apply our newfound skills of testing water clarity, temperature and pH! We saw some incredible longfin tuna in our Taitaia stream and it was definitely a highlight for all of us.
In very exciting news, we have been officially certified as a Bronze EnviroSchool! The Enviro Group has worked so hard this year to get us to this level of readiness, ka pai tamariki!
To celebrate our success a small group of Enviro Leaders were invited to participate in a celebration and learning day at Western Springs. We got to learn about what other schools are doing for their local whenua, how they are applying the kaupapa and what amazing projects they have on the go.
It's been an action packed year and we can't wait to see what next year brings as we focus in on our school gardens, composting program and some amazing art projects!
DIWALI / CULTURAL DAY
HUNUA CULTURAL FESTIVAL
This term Mrs Kumar has been busy training our Bollywood group who have worked very hard on their dance routine. They, along with our Kapa Haka group, represented Ardmore School and wowed the audience at the Hunua Cultural Festival recently. A big thank you to Mrs Kumar and Mrs Ashford for all the work they have put in helping our tamariki with these groups.
