Message From Central Road School
Mrs. Joanna Shostachuk, School Principal
A Note from Mrs. Shostachuk 08/28/2022
Dear Central Road Families:
Our first, full week of school is behind us and it was a success. Students dove into academics on a deeper level this week and began feeling much more settled into our school based routines & expectations. The smiling faces and giggles across our building are a pleasant reminder of how wonderful our school truly is. We thank you all for your flexibility, patience, and partnership while trusting your wonderful child(ren) with us each day. May you find time to rest and relax over the weekend.
Kindly,
Joanna Shostachuk

K-5 New Math Program Information
Check out some information about our new math program this year. In a problem-based curriculum, students spend most of their time in class working on carefully crafted and sequenced problems. Teachers help students understand the problems, ask questions to push their thinking, and orchestrate discussions to be sure that the mathematical takeaways are clear.

D15 District Homework Guidance
As a district, we believe that any work assigned to students, including homework, should be done with a high level of intentionality and planning. Student well-being should be considered and the amount of homework assigned should be age-appropriate. We encourage families to identify a specific time and place for children to complete homework. If any concerns arise regarding homework, please contact your child's classroom teacher.
School Visitors
School Safety and Security
A number of safety measures have been put in place (and more are planned for 2022-2023) including, but not limited to, a visitor management system, which checks the credentials of all visitors before allowing them to enter the school. Central Road has a secure vestibule, an automatic 911 and integrated intercom system in all classrooms to utilize in the event of an emergency, new interior and exterior door signage has been put in place to remind students and staff to keep doors closed at all times and not to allow anyone in except through the front door. Classroom doors will remain locked and closed this year when students are in school. Visitors and/or parents are not allowed on our school playground during school hours. We continue to also place a strong focus on mental health and have many resources in place for students to report concerns or seek help should they need additional support. If anyone hears something, sees something, please say something. We will not trade safety for convenience as we continue to provide a warm and welcoming learning environment for our students and staff. We greatly appreciate your support, understanding, and patience.
Infinite Campus Parent Portal
Infinite Campus' Campus Parent is designed to provide parents real-time access to student information. The easy-to-use design displays what is currently happening in the classroom so you can understand, monitor, and participate in your child’s educational experience.
This portal also provides parents access to check for teacher placement and student schedules once their student is registered. District 15 has also used IC to gather parent survey responses. Make sure you have your account set up for the new school year! To learn how to set up your account, watch tutorials, or access a help center, please visit our website.
