Dear Families:
We are looking forward to seeing you this Thursday and Friday for conferences! This is a valuable opportunity to connect as a team to learn more about your child’s growth and about the plans in place for continued growth and learning. Thank you for your ongoing partnership.
Dance Marathon:
This year's dance marathon benefiting Lurie Children's Hospital will take place on Friday, March 15th from 3:30-5:30 at Washburne. If you haven't received a fundraising link from your child or his/her/their advisor yet, you can find your link here. Advisory Links
Where does the money go? Children's Miracle Network
The energetic and creative Dance Marathon Student Steering Committee has set its sights on beating our total from last year, which made us the top fundraising middle school in the country! Our total last year was $83,186.70.
Last, there will be plenty of ways to volunteer to help plan and run the dance Marathon through the PTO. That information is forthcoming. Stay tuned!
6th grade Volleyball
Due to a low turnout of 7th grade boys, we are excited to offer 6th graders a chance to play for Washburne's JV travel volleyball team. The program has practices on Tuesday/Wednesday/Thursday from 3:30-5:00 and Friday mornings from 7:00-8:00. We play against the other middle schools that feed into New Trier. The season runs from now until March 12. Anyone who is interested in playing should register on Washburne's Website here. If you have any questions, please contact Andy Becker at AndyBecker@winnetka36.org
Families may now access the calendar for the upcoming school year, also available on our District website.
Single-Subject and Grade Level Acceleration
The Accelerated Placement Act requires Illinois public school districts to adopt and implement policies on acceleration that provide opportunities for single subject and grade level acceleration. To learn more about District 36’s acceleration policy implementation, click here to view an infographic and click here to visit our updated webpage. Note that the acceleration request form will be open February 26-March 22. If you have questions about the policy, please contact the Asst Supt of Innovation, Teaching and Learning, Dr. Becky Mathison, at beckymathison@winnetka36.org.
