The Alto Xylophone is a Hit!
Thanks to the Western Boone Education Foundation grant (spring, 2022), Thorntown music classes have a new Alto Xylophone for the students to play. The students have been very excited for this opportunity. They can now make tuneful melodies and accompaniments to poems and songs.
This brings the total of Orff instruments up to five for the class to share. The long-term goal is to have one instrument for each child. The Orff instruments make it possible for students as young as kindergarten and first grade to read and create melodies and accompaniments for songs, and to learn how to listen and stay together as an ensemble.
All ready to play!
