Cashless Meal Service
Students who are free/reduced lunch eligible MUST complete the forms every year.
The system is open and you can create a meal account and complete the free/reduced meal application if you believe your may qualify. (link above)
The governor did sign legislation to bring back the co-vid 19 era of free meals for everyone.
This will include:
One breakfast and one lunch per student (students will still need to swipe their ID for every meal)
A la carte, snack and second meals will be offered for a charge. We will still be cashless so please put money on your student's account if your student would want to purchase an extra lunch or snacks.
Transportation
Your middle school student will automatically be assigned a bus route if
1. you live at least one mile from the middle school
2. you are a resident
Families meeting these 2 criteria will be MAILED a letter with route information within the next week.
If you do not receive your bus information prior to August 24, please contact transportation at (248) 865-3680.
Transportation is provided for all West Bloomfield School District elementary resident students. The Middle School and High School students have a 1-mile walk area. Safe, efficient, and friendly service is our goal and we will strive every day to accomplish this.
We will do our best to arrive at your child’s bus stop on time. There may be delays due to road conditions or heavy traffic. All buses are equipped with 2-way radios and we are able to contact your child’s driver, as needed.
Students should arrive at their bus stop 10 minutes prior to pick-up time to allow for weather and traffic variances. Remind your child to wait at a safe location away from traffic and vehicles. We encourage all parents to review the Transportation Handbook with your children. See below to access the Transportation Handbook.
Shuttle service will be available in certain areas. If you reside in a walk area, live outside the District, or live outside the attendance area of your school and would like to ride a shuttle. The form to request the shuttle service is available now.
WBMS shuttle choices are Bethany Church on Hiller Rd and Old Roosevelt on Cass Lake Rd. The Spirit of Grace in Sylvan Lake is currently full.
It must be signed by your building principal and will be forwarded to the Transportation Department.
You will be contacted when a seat is available on a shuttle. Link to shuttle application is below.
DURHAM BUS TRACKER
Durham Transportation has a bus tracking app for West Bloomfield families. The Bus Tracker app is available for iOS, Android and web and allows families to track their student(s) bus along its route, to and from school. Families will need to have their student(s) ID numbers which are available in PowerSchool in order to log into the app and create an account.
As a safety protocol, the Bus Tracker app will only allow families to see their student(s) bus route(s) only.
If you have any questions, please consult the Bus Tracker instructions and visit the Bus Tracker webpage on the Durham Transportation website for more information and to download the app.

Blessings in a Back Pack
If your child is a student (3 to 26 years of age) in the West Bloomfield Schools, s/he can also participate in the 2023-24 Blessings in a Backpack program. This program sends six non-perishable meals home each Friday of the school year. Its goal is to make sure that no child goes hungry on the weekend. Run by volunteers, there is NO cost to you.
To enroll in this program, please fill out the form below and return it to your school office or email it to katherinesheiko@hotmail.com. This registers your child/ren in the Blessings program and alerts us to any allergies they might have. The first backpack of food will be distributed to your child at his/her local school the first week of October.
Allergies
We do have designated tables in the auditeria that are "NUT FREE".
More detailed information will be coming soon

Gaggle
The WBSD continues its agreement with GAGGLE to support our efforts to keep students in our school safe from harm.
Gaggle is a student safety software that we will begin using on our platforms at the end of January 2023. Over 1,500 school districts across the country utilize gaggle to identify students who may be in crisis so appropriate staff members can contact parents and support the identified student.
Gaggle leverages a powerful combination of best-in-class artificial intelligence, machine learning, and a highly trained content review team to flag concerning content that K-12 students may be ingesting, receiving, or posting using school-provided devices and platforms, including Google Workspace for Education, Microsoft Office 365, Google Chat (formerly Google Hangouts), Microsoft Teams, and the Canvas learning management system. The tool is used by more than 1,500 school districts around the country to help identify and protect young children from threats of violence, self-harm, and suicide; child pornography, online predators, and sexual content; cyberbullying or other forms of online abuse; and drug or alcohol abuse.
Key points of this relationship include that only district owned and supported devices and platforms will be reviewed, the most serious content will be identified and shared with parents and the overall goal is the continued protection of all of our WBSD students.
If you have questions about this product or the district’s intentions, please reach out to any of the 3 WBMS administrators.

Schedule Changes
Backpack Procedure
Students are permitted to bring a backpack to and from school. We recommend the smallest backpack, for example a string bag be used or something that is easily foldable.
Backpacks and bags are to be kept in the students’ lockers and not carried from class to class during the day.
Backpacks that do not fit in the lockers can be kept in advisory classes
To assist students with keeping backpacks in lockers we recommend:
Only those things critical to school should be brought to school
Leave toys, and extra clothes/shoes at home
Students should remove things from their backpacks and place items in the locker to allow for the best use of space
We understand that female students may need to carry a small purse during the day with essential items
Lockers: combinations and lockers will be passed out on the 1st day of school in Advisory
