Learn! Grow! Succeed!
Greetings!
Just a quick note to say hello, and I hope your new year is off to a good start!
It has been a busy time traveling the state in 2023 offering exam review classes and exhibiting at events. Many thanks to the Alabama Nursery & Landscape Association and the Alabama Turfgrass Association for supporting the AGITC!
The AGITC, Alabama Extension, Auburn University Horticulture Department, and associations are working on marketing the Green Industry for workforce development. For marketing to students, we have booth space for the battery-powered blower Skee-Ball games, show equipment, and a trailer illustrating our industry.
On March 7-9, 2023, we will be in front of 8,000 grade 8 and 11 students in East Alabama from several surrounding counties. If you want to help greet students at the booth for any part of time over the 3 days our booth, please reach out to coordinate! If you want to see more about the event, you can go to the link to read more about the event. https://eastalabamaworks.com/
For those of you that are interested in completing the regulatory licensing and need more information, please reach out to me for guidance on the moving forward. I would be glad to help!
Spring is around the corner...
Take care,
John
Grow More, Give More - Consider supporting this project today!
Project Description:
Close to two million Alabama residents live in a food desert, which means they lack regular access
to the nutritious food needed for an active and healthy life. Rural residents have little access to
food pantries while urban residents are hampered by the timing and routes of public transportation.
While these sound like very different problems, they can be addressed by the same solution: bring
the community garden to the food desert in a portable, inexpensive, and easy-to- grow kit. Grow
More, Give More pop-up community gardens will deliver small scale, adaptable, gardens to your
neighbors and seniors across the state. Garden kits include everything from container and soil to
seeds and drip irrigation. In addition, Alabama Extension and community volunteers will share
instructions and
know-how, helping novice and veteran gardeners alike in the fight to end hunger in Alabama.
Thank you for your consideration! Your donation is GREATLY appreciated!
