Dress Like a Super Hero Day-This Friday!!!
You did it! You read 25,000 minutes+ as a school. Now this Friday, you can dress like your favorite superhero! Thank you for supporting WCEF!
From Your Principal
Good Evening Buena Vista Parents,
We are in the last few days of our WCEF Read-a-thon and here is where we stand. Currently as a school we have read 63,504 minutes and raised $17,796 dollars and have 134 participants. This is amazing. So far as a school we have earned dress like a superhero day and an extended recess with a dance party. Let's make the rest of our goals!!! We are so close to reaching the $20,000 mark and 100,000 minutes read!
All students who complete a BINGO on their cards get an amazing Maze pen, when they get black out on their Bingo card they get can turn into their Bingo Card to the office for a raffle. It is so easy. There is a Pledgestar app!! Pledgestar is how you track reading minutes and funds raised, and they have an app to make it easy. You can also customize your child’s request, translate it into 50 languages, and more. To sign up visit pledgestar.com/wcef. Complete information can be found at wcefk12.org/readathon.

If you live too far to walk, try parking a few blocks away from campus and walking the rest of the way. Parents, please remind students of safety basics:
- Cross streets in crosswalks or at intersections.
- Make eye contact with drivers before entering the street or passing driveways.
- Ride bikes on the right side of the road, going with the flow of traffic.
- Wear a bike helmet when biking, scooting, or skating.
- Be visible with bright colors during daylight or use reflective clothing and lights if walking in the early morning darkness.

WCEF’s 4th Annual Read-a-thon ends September 29!
Just a few more days left to log your student’s minutes for WCEF’s read-a-thon! There’s still plenty of time to join in the fun and raise money to help WCEF ensure all students have access to a comprehensive education, open libraries, and a vast array of enrichment opportunities. Our goal is to raise $180,000! We can do this.
DID YOU KNOW? Only 9% of schools in California benefit from a credentialed librarian and 50% of library funding comes from the community. It's up to us to support our libraries!
Exciting prizes include gift cards to the students with the most sponsors, top readers per school, and we even have principals willing to be silly stringed—all in the name of reading!
