We are in "FULL SWING" at SIC!!
The students and staff are off to a great start at the Steger Intermediate Center! We have our schedules down, our books in our desks (or on our new classroom tables!) and our routines are being practiced. Students are learning with our new Math Curriculum, Eureka 2 (squared), and are loving it! They are having great conversations with their partners and are using some pretty interesting manipulatives to help math come alive! Parents - watch for the Parent Information letter that will come home before the start of each new "Topic"; it will help to explain what students will be learning during Math class and how you can help at home.
All students completed their Fall NWEA MAP Benchmark assessment. This information will be coming home in the next few weeks. Students will also take the assessment in the Winter and Spring - we can't wait to see our Cardinals SOAR! Welcome Back!

Character Counts at SIC!
Congratulations to Ms. Lynn Husmann on her retirement!
Ms. Husmann has taught in SD194 for 20 years! She has formed many friendships with both teachers and families in our district. She will miss all the students that she has had the pleasure of teaching and will miss seeing students grow as individuals as they overcome challenges. She enjoys seeing their pride come out when they show dedication and hard work in their learning and she will miss that too! Ms. Husmann says, "Teaching in SD 194 has been like a family - I plan to continue my friendships with all staff, students, and families."
Early Pick-Ups
Parents - Learning ends at 2:30pm at SIC - then pack up for home begins - you can expect students to walk out of the building at 2:36 pm. When students are picked up early, it disrupts the class and your student misses out on learning. It also affects their attendance. Whenever possible, please schedule appointments for after school. We appreciate your cooperation.
