The Redskin Review
Welcome Back 24-25 School Year
Letter from the Principal
Dear Bryan County Middle High School Community,
Welcome back to the 2024 - 2025 school year! I am excited to share our focus for the year: "TLTs Matter for Students." At Bryan County Middle High School, we believe that "the little things" (TLTs) make a big difference in creating a positive and productive learning environment. This year, our emphasis is on three key areas: Respectful communication, Engaged use of technology, and Dependable attendance and punctuality.
Respectful: How We Communicate Matters
Respectful communication is the cornerstone of a thriving school community. This year, we are dedicated to fostering an environment where every interaction is characterized by kindness, consideration, and understanding. Whether in the classroom, in the community, or online, we expect our students to communicate respectfully with their peers, teachers, and staff. Positive, respectful interactions build strong relationships and create a supportive atmosphere where everyone can succeed.
Engaged: How We Use Technology Matters
We encourage our students to use technology in a way that enhances their learning and personal growth. This means being mindful of screen time, using devices responsibly, and leveraging digital tools to collaborate and explore new ideas. Our goal is to prepare students to be thoughtful and effective digital citizens who can navigate the complexities of the online world with confidence and integrity. Each BCMHS student will have access to a Chromebook during the instructional setting and therefore will not need access to a personal electronic device in the classroom.
Dependable: Attendance and Punctuality Matter
Dependability is essential for academic success and personal development. Regular attendance and punctuality demonstrate a commitment to learning and show respect for the time and efforts of others. We urge our students to be present and on time for school and all classes, as consistent attendance is directly linked to better academic outcomes and a stronger sense of community.
Our Commitment
As we focus on these TLTs, we are committed to supporting our students every step of the way. Our dedicated teachers and staff are here to guide, inspire, and challenge each student to reach their full potential. We believe that by paying attention to "the little things," we can make a significant impact on the overall educational experience and success of our students.
Partnering with Parents and Guardians
We recognize that achieving these goals requires a collaborative effort between the school and home. We encourage parents and guardians to join us in reinforcing the importance of respectful communication, appropriate engaged use of technology, and dependable attendance. Together, we can create a nurturing and motivating environment for our students.
Thank you for your continued support and partnership. We look forward to an amazing school year filled with growth, learning, and achievement. Let's make this year the best one yet by focusing on the TLTs that matter most.
Go Redskins!

Attention 10th-12th Grade Students
Launch of our new Mayor’s Youth Council. This council will be comprised of 9-13 youth from 10th-12th grade in North Bryan County. Cities across Georgia have used the Georgia Municipal Association model for youth councils to engage our kids in the roles and responsibilities of government, teaching leadership skills, creating youth-led service projects and policies, and diving deeper into the vision for the future of our community. The council has been developed to run on the school year time frame beginning with application acceptance in August and announcements in September and will run through summer of the following year. There will be opportunities for youth to engage in City Council Meetings, Downtown Development Authority Meetings, Planning & Zoning, TOS Theatre Board, and more in addition to a trip to Atlanta in January for the Annual Cities United Summit. At the summit, students will have the opportunity to visit with Representatives and Senators from Georgia.

Cell Phone Policy
Middle School
.
Middle School students will receive time for a cell phone check at 1:20pm to communicate with parents (if needed) for afternoon pickup purposes.
We want students engaged in the educational activities that our professional educators work to provide for our students. Cell phones are a distraction to the school day and are not permitted in the middle school other than the cell phone check.
High School
.
Suggestion:
- Students keep cell phones in bags during instructional time.
- Students turn cell phones in to their teacher during instructional time.
Purpose:
It is critical to cut down on the number of distractions available to students in the learning environment. We want to help teach our high school students appropriate use of technology.
Dress Code
Student Dress Code Expectations: The Bryan County Schools Student/Parent Handbook outlines the dress code in detail. The basic dress code is intended to encourage students to “dress for success” and to come to school properly prepared to participate in the learning environment.
Expectations:
● The maintenance of common decency and classroom order requires adequate coverage of the person.
● Clothes must be worn in a way such that genitals, buttocks, bellies, chests, and undergarments are fully covered with opaque fabric.
● Students will not be permitted to wear clothing that advertises the use of alcohol, drugs, or other substances which, if used by a minor, would be illegal.
● Additionally, clothing will not be permitted which advertises, promotes, or, via innuendo or double meaning, suggests inappropriate ideas or behavior not conducive to a positive school climate or is disruptive to the educational functioning of the school. This includes promoting violence, gang affiliation, and racially or sexually offensive messages or references.
● Blankets are not permitted at school and are not a piece of clothing.
● Headwear such as but not limited to hats or hoodies are not to be worn during instructional time as dictated by the teacher from the beginning of the year.
