Social Studies
We are finishing the year by reading the historical novel Ground Zero by Alan Gratz. The novel will give us two different perspectives about the events of 9/11. We will follow a boy through his experiences in the North Tower of the World Trade Center on 9/11, and what he had to do to survive. We will also follow a girl in Afghanistan in 2019 and various conflicts in the history of Afghanistan.
Finally, thank you for a great year. You should be proud of your kids--they have grown so much! And thank you for all your help with things like field trips, and classroom supplies, and especially for all the kindness and support I’ve gotten from you this year. Please let me know if you have questions as we finish the year.

ELA
We're reaching the final stretch of the school year with our last unit, which will delve into the realm of Creative Writing. Over the next several days, we'll embark on a mini-journey exploring various facets of creative expression.
Our journey begins with the art of crafting a friendly letter and examining the components. From there, we'll immerse ourselves in the vivid world of descriptive writing, crafting scenes from viewing pictures, and adding rich 3D details, figurative language, and details of motion.
As our exploration continues, we'll explore different forms of poetry and craft a few verses to bid farewell to the school year.
I'd like to take this opportunity to express my gratitude for your unwavering support throughout the year. Wishing you and your family a safe and enjoyable summer, and may your student(s) find even greater success in the coming school year.
