CVSD PreK LOTTERY - OPEN FOR 2024-2025!
The CVSD Early Education Program is now accepting applications for a random pre-k lottery drawing for the 2024-25 school year. This lottery is for an opportunity to enroll in one of our school-based classrooms which run 10 hours per week. Our school-based prekindergarten classrooms are 5 STARs, licensed early education programs that provide play-based, developmentally appropriate environments for all children in an inclusive setting. Our curriculum is based on the Vermont Early Learning Standards (VELS).
Our programs follow the CVSD school calendar. Children who will be age 3 or older by September 1, 2024, who are not eligible for kindergarten, and live in the communities of Charlotte, Hinesburg, Shelburne, St. George, and Williston are eligible to enter the lottery. Families who are selected for the lottery and choose to enroll their child in a CVSD program access their Act 166 publicly funded prekindergarten funds for the school-based program.
All applications must be received by February 5, 2024, and are located on the CVSD Early Education website under 2024-2025 Preschool Lottery . Paper applications are available upon request.

LEARN ABOUT THE CVSD AND CONNECTING YOUTH VAPING PREVENTION CAMPAIGN
Dear Parents and Caregivers,
This month, we are excited to announce our CVSD and Connecting Youth Vaping Prevention Campaign. Aligned with VT Department of Health's Prevention Week, we are launching a district-wide prevention campaign that will include programs, policies, practices and people.
We are acutely aware of the growing use of EVPs (electronic vaping products). According to the most recent Vermont Youth Risk Behavior Survey, 1 in 4 Vermont youth currently use an EVP, while 50% have ever used one.* 2019 Youth Risk Behavior Survey statistic
The gravity of this issue has required us to think more critically about our approach to enacting change. Our holistic approach including programs, policies, practices and people will not only change youth beliefs and behaviors, it will help shift the cultural narrative around EVP misuse from punitive to restorative.
With this announcement, we are revealing two video assets that will act as key tools for partners, like you, to support the campaign:
"Let's Talk About Vaping" - Informational video for educators, parents, and caregivers
"Up In Smoke" - Student video
Our intention is to announce this broad, comprehensive campaign effort by first communicating our strategy and the tools offered for success. In the coming weeks, we will package up a comprehensive digital toolkit for parents and caregivers with easy-to-access resources on how to prevent EVP misuse in our youth.
For more information on our campaign approach, check out our information sheet or contact Tony Moulton, Director or Integrated Wellness, Tmoulton@cvsdvt.org
