HSD COVID Testing Update
As mentioned in yesterday’s update, HSD is transitioning from two testing vendors to one. Our single vendor will be Longview (LTS) - this vendor has been assigned to us from the NJDOE and has been conducting our staff testing for the past several weeks. This transition is happening to streamline the registration and consent process without reducing testing capacity. Also, no insurance information is collected - the State of NJ fully funds this program.
If you believe your student or staff member may need to access HSD COVID testing, there are two items needed (without which testing cannot occur):
The vendor does not accept an electronic or photocopy signature
Please sign and return to the school’s main office or send in your student’s backpack.
This information is then shared with LTS, resulting in a registration email sent to your inbox (this process takes some time - LTS, not the school district, manually processes it).
If all the required information has been submitted, you may RSVP for our next testing session, which will take place on Monday, January 10, beginning at 3:30 PM.
I recognize there continues to be a lot of information coming to our families in a short period. Due to the confidential and sensitive information collected and communicated regarding testing, it’s a lot of information (and at times redundant). Thank you for your continued patience and understanding as we work diligently to expand the district’s testing capacity.
(Just an additional FYI, LTS does the testing, the lab that processed the tests is called Broad Institute)
Why aren't we following the new CDC Exclusion and Quarantine Guidelines?
- Since the start of the Pandemic, the process for school districts to develop COVID school safety protocols begins with guidelines established by the CDC.
- Next, those guidelines are reviewed by states' Departments of Health (in our case, the New Jersey Department of Health).
- Then, the guidelines are recommended (or not) to local Departments of Health (in our case, the Camden County Department of Health).
- Local health departments (LHDs) are community-based public health service providers and the front-line forces responsible for essential public health services that protect the health of New Jersey's citizens.
- At this time, the NJDOH has NOT adopted the CDCs newly updated Exclusion and Quarantine Guidelines, which was registered to the District today in a video call with the Camden County Department of Health.
Clarification on Yesterday's Message About Not Needed a Medical Note to Return from COVID+
HOWEVER, medical clearance from a physician remains a requirement for student-athletes returning from a COVID+ diagnosis.

- HSD is only sending COVID exclusion notices to close contacts between 0-6 ft during this surge period.
Next HSD/Adler COVID Vaccination Clinic for HSD Staff/Families
- This event will again be held in the Central School All-Purpose Room
- First vaccine shots (Pfizer/Moderna/JJ) are available
- Boosters (Pfizer/Moderna/JJ) are also available under CDC guidelines
- Adolescents aged 12 to 17 years old can receive their booster shot at this clinic (5 months after their initial Pfizer-BioNTech vaccination series is recently approved)
- You must pre-register for this event at the Adler Pharmacy website
- The second dose clinic is anticipated to be on February 10 at 4 PM for those receiving their first dose.
