Principal's Corner
As most of you know, I will not be returning to Roosevelt in the fall. I have decided to take a principal position in a district much closer to where my family lives. While I am sad to be leaving such a special and unique school, I am proud of the work our team has done over my two years on behalf of kids. I feel better about walking away because I know that the well-being of our students (who are all very special to me) is in the very caring and capable hands of the teachers, staff, and next principal at Roosevelt. Ms. Ashley Benhart will be taking over as principal over the summer and I am certain that she will take tremendous care of the students and take our school to new heights.
Thank you for all the support and encouragement over the past two years. Roosevelt will always have a very special place in my heart because of the wonderful people that make up our school community. Thank you for the tremendous gift you have given me by allowing me to be a part of your child's educational journey. I sincerely hope our paths cross again in the future. As they say, "Once a Falcon... Always a Falcon." Take care.
Shawn Peck
Principal

Sunscreen Procedures For Students
As we move into the spring and summer months, our class may spend prolonged periods (20 min+) outside learning. Please have your child bring any needed sun exposure items such as broad-spectrum sunscreen with an SPF of 15 or higher. For the best protection, encourage your child to use shade, clothing, a hat with a wide brim, and sunglasses, as well as sunscreen during outside time.
If your child is going to bring sunscreen, please show them how to apply it themselves and notify your child’s teacher.
Thank you,
SAFETY FIRST! - Morning Drop Off Reminders
1. Drive slowly and be attentive at all times when driving in the parking lot.
2. Always drop off in the far right lane. DO NOT drop children in the middle lane of traffic.
3. Children should exit the vehicle on the curb side (passenger side) of the vehicle to avoid going into a lane of traffic.
3. If there is a line of cars waiting to drop off, please join the end of that line. DO NOT bypass waiting cars.
4. When it is your turn to drop off, pull up as far as possible to keep the line progressing as quickly as possible.
5. Students should have all their materials ready so they can exit the car quickly after it comes to a stop. Parents should not get out of the car in the drop-off lane.
6. If drivers want to get out of their vehicle, they must park in the parking lot. DO NOT exit the vehicle in the drop off lane.
7. Remind your child to walk safely into the school. We work hard to keep our sidewalks free of ice but often times it reformers overnight and creates slippery conditions for walkers.
