Hey Crusader Nation!
Delsea High School - October 2023
The school year is off to an amazing start! The staff and students have been working hard in the classroom, our athletic programs are off to a great start, and we have more students participating in extracurricular activities than ever before. It was great to see and speak with so many of you at Back to School Night, various athletic contests, and at many other events throughout the month.
We may be early in the year, but it’s never too early to identify areas of success or struggle. Ask questions! I know teenagers are reluctant to answer, so that’s why I recommend specific questions. There are many others, but these are some questions that can start the conversations that can often be elusive with teenagers.
What is a question you asked or answered in class today?
What is one specific fact that you didn’t know, but learned in school today?
What class is your favorite so far and why?
Try these or some others and see what happens!
Finally, October is a great month for us at the high school. Homecoming and all of the festivities that go along with it are on the horizon. We have Spirit Week, the pep rally, and the homecoming game, culminating in the semi-formal here at the high school. Let’s continue to capitalize on the energy that comes with the beginning of a new school year and roll strong into a busy October. Have a great month and I hope to see you soon!
PICTURE DAY RETAKES
Underclassmen Picture Day is on , Wednesday, October 18th. Students will be allowed to take their picture throughout the day in the gym lobby.

NUTRITION SERVICES UPDATE
All families are encouraged to complete the free and reduced meal application. This form ensures all students have access to nutritious meals, while also securing the necessary funding to support every student in the district. Even if you haven't qualified in the past, your child may qualify for no-cost meal through the Working-Class Families Anti-Hunger Act. Please complete the free and reduced meal application here.
PARENT PORTAL IS OPEN
The OnCourse Parent Portal for the 2023 - 2024 annual student registration is now OPEN! Each year, parents/guardian of existing and newly enrolled Delsea High School students must update several annual registration requirements using the OnCourse Connect Parent Portal at https://www.oncourseconnect.com/login. Please note that parents and students will not be able to access their grade portal until they fill out the annual registration.
STUDENTS AND CHROMEBOOKS
This year we are going to encourage students to check and use their Delsea email more regularly. WHY? Because every student has a Chromebook and teachers use Google Workspace tools for classroom efficiency! It’s an easy way for them to communicate with their teachers. It’s a great way for students to stay up to date with important announcements from teachers and the school. This can include information for clubs, sports, cancellations, reminder of events, and so much more.
LOCKERS
Lockers will be assigned upon request. Once your student has completed the Google Form, they will get their locker information emailed to them.
