WAYS TO CELEBRATE NATIVE AMERICAN HERITAGE MONTH WITH YOUR KIDS
November is National Native American Heritage Month, a chance to honor the history and continuing culture of Native Americans, Alaska Natives, and Native Hawaiians. Get your kids involved! Each week we will share family-friendly ideas to celebrate and learn about the Indigenous peoples of the United States.
Here's an idea: Take a deeper dive into Native American heritage sites.
Spend some time on the National Park Service’s Native American Heritage Month website, which makes it easy to discover important people and stories.
There, you and your child will also learn about the U.S. parks, memorials, and historic sites that honor Native Americans, Alaska Natives, and Native Hawaiians.
PHILABUNDANCE FOOD DRIVE EXTENDED TO 11/30!
To promote our school’s Education for Children and Youth Experiencing Homelessness (ECYEH) program, we’re having a food drive! Until NOVEMBER 30TH, students can bring these food items to school. Donations will go to Philabundance.
What is i-Ready?
i-Ready is an online program for reading and/or mathematics that will help your student’s teacher(s) determine your student’s needs, personalize their learning, and monitor progress throughout the school year. i-Ready allows your teacher(s) to meet your student exactly where they are and provides data to increase your student’s learning gains. i-Ready consists of two parts: Diagnostic and Personalized Instruction.
The i-Ready Diagnostic is an adaptive assessment that adjusts its questions to suit your student’s needs. Each item a student sees is individualized based on their answer to the previous question. For example, a series of correct answers will result in slightly harder questions, while a series of incorrect answers will yield slightly easier questions.
i-Ready Personalized Instruction provides students with lessons based on their individual skill levels and needs, so your student can learn at a pace that is just right for them. These lessons are fun and interactive to keep your student engaged as they learn.

November 19th Thanksgiving Food giveaway: 1300 Ruan Street
This Saturday our good friends over at The Ray of Hope Project will be sponsoring a Thanksgiving Food giveaway beginning at 10 am on the 1300 block of Ruan Street. This event is less than a mile from NACS.
They will be giving away turkeys, fresh produce, cakes, and pies. Many thanks to Raymond Gant and his wonderful team of volunteers for their service to the community!

What is Safe2Say Something?
Safe2Say Something is a youth violence prevention program run by the Pennsylvania Office of Attorney General. The program teaches youth and adults how to recognize warning signs and signals, especially within social media, from individuals who may be a threat to themselves or others and to “say something” BEFORE it is too late. With 'Safe2Say Something', it’s easy and confidential to report safety concerns to help prevent violence and tragedies.
Here’s how it works:
- Submit an anonymous tip report through the Safe2SaySomething system
- The crisis center reviews and processes all submissions
- The crisis center sends all submissions to school administration and/or law enforcement for intervention
- If needed, the crisis center may contact the tipster anonymously through the app
