Quetzal News
May 8, 2024
From Ms. O's Desk
Dear Quetzal Families,
I am happy to announce that the CAASPP state testing for our 3rd through 5th graders has been successfully completed. I extend my heartfelt gratitude to our students for their diligence and commitment during this period. As we move forward, I wanted to inform you that our iReady assessments are scheduled for the week of May 13th, with Math assessments taking place on Monday and ELA assessments on Wednesday. I encourage you to motivate your children to do their best during these assessments, as they provide us with valuable insights into their progress and learning achievements throughout the year.
Last week, we had the pleasure of hosting an incredible ELAC arts event. It was truly heartwarming to witness students and parents come together to explore the diverse aspects of ELAC and engage in creative endeavors such as painting. I would like to extend a special thank you to Mrs. Arellano, the ELAC committee, and our dedicated Support Staff - Yesica, Jose, and Esmeralda - for their tireless efforts in making the event a resounding success.
Furthermore, I am thrilled to congratulate our Reclassified English Learners this year: Iker, Elaine, Miguel, Henry, Gabriel, José, Kassandra, Itzayana, Karen, Kenya, Derik, Alan, Mileydi, and Miguel. Your hard work and determination have been truly commendable, and it was a joyous occasion celebrating your achievements at our Reclassification breakfast yesterday.
Lastly, I would like to express my deepest appreciation for the overwhelming love and support shown by our students and community during Teacher Appreciation Week. The outpouring of flowers and heartfelt messages has touched the hearts of our entire staff. It is indeed a privilege to serve our students and community, and we are grateful for the opportunity to make a positive impact in their lives.
As always, please do not hesitate to reach out if you have any questions or concerns. Together, we will continue to strive for excellence and create a nurturing environment where every student can thrive.
With sincere appreciation,
Claudia Olaciregui, Principal

Better Together: May
May is Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) Heritage Month, a time dedicated to recognizing the rich history, cultural diversity, and significant contributions of the Asian American Pacific Islander community to our society. It's an opportunity to celebrate the many achievements and the vibrant traditions that AAPI individuals bring to the fabric of our communities. As we honor this important month, it's also an excellent moment to reflect on the #BetterTogether theme of recognizing our own self-worth. Each of us, regardless of background, has unique strengths and an intrinsic value that contributes positively to our communities and the world at large. Celebrating AAPI Heritage Month reminds us to appreciate not only the diversity around us but also the value within ourselves, fostering a deeper understanding and respect for all.
