November's Newsletter 2024-2025
Dear Shadow Hill's Families,
What an amazing month October has been! We have had so many celebrations and learning experiences in the classroom, on the gym court, cross country experiences, and out in the community for field trips. Thank you for your hours of volunteering supporting our learning adventures.
A reminder that Tuesday, November 5th, there is no school for students and is the day for Voting. We are attending professional development training throughout the district or in our building. Our site is a voting station for our community. You are able to access voting through the side door of the gymnasium from the bus loop.
We have been also celebrating our attendance daily! Thanks to Mrs. Erwin, she sends out Shout Outs daily for 100% attendance and Zero tardies. We also wanted to give a Shout Out to families for doing your best by keeping your kids in school all day and limiting the early pick ups. Through communication with you, the focus and efforts are greatly appreciated. In addition to Morning Meetings, having closure for a learning day at school with your child's teacher is just as important and valuable. Both the teacher and the kids get to share a moment of working hard, doing our best, and finishing off another awesome day at school.

Do you know what the Learning Pit is?
Let our kinders teach you a little bit about the Learning Pit! Our kinders will also be teaching and reviewing with all of our students what the Learning Pit looks like and feels like as their YouTube Debut has been shared with all of our teachers to be viewed on Monday, November 4th. For the month of November, all Shadow Hills learners, children and adults, will be mindful of the Learning Pit, and how it is a great tool and a healthy experience as we nurture our own resiliency.

Veteran's Day Celebrations
Assembly and Breakfast
We wanted to send a reminder about Veteran's Day. Pictures can be submitted until today, Friday, November 1, 2024. Mrs. Spengler appreciates those and will need to have a hard deadline by tonight at midnight.
You are able to email them to shadhills.veteranspix@gmail.com We would love to get more pictures to include in the slide show.
If families are inviting a Veteran to the assembly, please return the completed form with your child. Students are invited to wear red, white, or blue on Veteran's Day.
We are truly looking forward to celebrating all of the Veterans.
National Guard and Blackhawk Visit
We are so excited to have the National Guard spend the afternoon with us. A Blackhawk will land on our playground in the afternoon. All grade levels will have the opportunity to spend 15 minutes with the pilots and see the helicopter up close. The Blackhawk will take off at 3:40.
Families, you are welcome to join us in this celebration. If you want to be present with your child during any part of this celebration, please check in at the office to get a badge and then join your child's classroom. If you would like to see the landing and departure and not check in at the office, you are welcome to view from the sidewalk off Sloan facing our intermediate playground. There are safety precautions in place due to the air flow and movement that the propellors will cause. We appreciate you following the direction and support of our staff who will be monitoring the bus loop area, JFK area, and along Sloan by the field.
