Options Program Update
Fourth quarter classes have started! One of our amazing facilitators, Shelly Haas, is teaching "Nature Works". Shelly comes to us with many years of teaching and art experience. Check out what Shelly has to say below about her amazing class this week:
"In Nature Works we start with readiness activities to assist us in the connection between our minds and hands. This week we then used paint brushes made of pine, feathers, dried maple seeds or grasses to apply tempera paint; heavy to light from one side of our paper to another. We then chose a natural object to study up close. In white on black paper followed by black line on white paper."

Elementary Update
May’s character trait of the month is Creativity. Creativity is the ability to use your imagination to create something or to solve a problem. Each homeroom teacher will select a student who consistently demonstrates creativity. Fostering creativity in elementary school nurtures essential skills like critical thinking, self-expression, cognitive development, social-emotional growth, and lifelong learning abilities. Creative activities provide a well-rounded educational experience that prepares children for future success. Students selected will have their pictures displayed on the Wall of Fame through the month of June.
Mrs. Preeo’s kindergarten class hatched eight chicks last week. Using visual aids, hands-on activities, and live observations the students were able to explore and observe the process from egg to chick.
Friday, May 17th is Lookalike Day in the elementary school. Get creative and have fun by pairing up with a friend or a classmate to dress alike.

Middle School Students ended April by celebrating Honor Roll Students, Character Trait of the Month winners, and Bus Riders of the Week. Honor roll students received doughnuts and certificates, Character Trait and Bus Riders received their choice of full sized candies. After the assembly, students with no office referrals for the Month of April participated in our PBIS end of the month reward activity. ASB provided savory snacks and Italian Sodas, and students were able to sing Karoke and play games in the commons for the last hour of the day. Our final, end of the year PBIS rewards activities are grade level field trips. Students with no office referrals will either attend the EWU ropes course and tour OR travel to Silverwood. Please be looking for field trip permission forms as they were handed out this week. For these activities we must have the actual permission and waiver forms signed by parents and cannot accept email, phone, or text permission. Thank you for understanding!
