Fall Curriculum and Instruction
Linwood Learners: Empowering Minds, Inspiring Futures
Welcome Back and Hello!
Hello Linwood School Community! I am absolutely delighted to get the opportunity to share with you our Fall Curriculum and Instruction Newsletter. There are some amazing things taking place in our classrooms and beyond and I look forward to highlighting those throughout the school year.
For those I haven't had the chance to met yet, my name is Rich DiMauro and I am absolutely blessed and honored to get the chance to support the staff and students of Seaview and Belhaven. My first couple months have been incredible!

Brand New SmartBoards
We're so excited to introduce Newline Smartboards into our first grade classes this school year. These interactive devices allow teachers to not only display information and content, but transform some of the lessons and activities can take place in the classroom. Students are able to come up and interact with the board and display their work to the class. So far we've seen students playing games, practicing handwriting, taking attendance, and dancing along to Go Noodles. Our teachers took the training they received and ran with it right away!
NJ Standards and Curriculum Updates
Over the summer we had a crew of teachers work diligently to help update our Math and ELA curriculum across all grade levels. Linwood Schools are focused on ensuring that our curriculum aligns to the NJSLS and challenges our students to set them up for success at Linwood and beyond. Our curriculum includes pacing information, highlights opportunities to integrate cross-curricular, and ways our teachers will differentiate to support all of our students. All of the district curriculum can be found on our website.
The State of New Jersey also made some updates to the Math and ELA curriculum at the elementary school and middle school level. In Math, the state has introduced money into the standards which begin in Kindergarten with identifying coins and their value. As students advance, they'll be exposed to more money based content and questions. The state also made a change to separate the Data and Measurement category to more specifically focus on Data Analytics. We're excited to integrate these changes into our classroom instruction!
In ELA, the state made some changes to the way they organize their ELA Standards. This will allow our staff to easily align content, find specific resources, and better create a roadmap for student achievement.
More detailed information about the updates to the ELA and Math Standards can be found by clicking the image below.
