October Focus
Be Here- Be Gold
Admin Message
As we settle into October, we have a lot to be thankful for at Trenton High School. Staff and students have been busy in the classrooms engaged in high level numeracy and literacy tasks. Our grade 8 students have experienced cross panel learning opportunities in our high school arts facility, our culinary program has been busy creating delicious meals as part of our Food for Learning program, and our Learning Skills Program has been experimenting with tactile hands-on tasks and interactive learning activities… just to name a few of the amazing things happening at THS. The school year is underway and our students are immersed in the learning; this is exciting!
Thank you to all students, staff and families that completed our School Climate Survey in the spring. In response to our school’s results, we are excited to announce that this month we are launching our Be Here - Be Gold Campaign. THS staff are committed to fostering a positive, safe and welcoming school culture for everyone. We know that how students feel at school impacts how they learn. Our collective goal at THS is to drive positive school culture; one that supports building student confidence, school pride and academic excellence. At THS, we will be working as a collective, committed community to highlight the amazing things about our school. THS is welcoming and inclusive and supports high student academic achievement. Be Here - Be Gold Tigers… stay tuned!

School Council 2024-2025
We are excited to introduce the new School Council for the 2024-25 academic year! Leading the council is Chair Robert Wharram, along with Parent Involvement Committee Representative Melissa Ruttan. Our dedicated parent members include Brad Poteri, Cassandra McDermott-Hubbert, Michelle Turpin, and Janet Coville. We are also pleased to have staff representatives Heather Bossa and Kelly Beauvais on board. The council plays a vital role in supporting our school community, and we encourage all parents to get involved. Our next meeting will be held on October 17 at 5:30 PM in the library. We look forward to seeing you there!
Vaping .......is it Harmless?
Over the past few years, there has been a lot of misinformation circulating that e-cigarette vaping is harmless. It isn’t.
Little is known yet about the long-term health effects of inhaling the chemicals found in vape aerosol. But short-term evidence makes it clear that youth who vape risk becoming addicted to the nicotine found in most e-juices. Nicotine can alter the developing brains of teens and has been linked to concentration and memory problems.
Studies are also starting to show that youth who begin vaping are more likely to become tobacco users. Under provincial law, vaping, like smoking, is banned everywhere on school property at all times. It’s important we work together at school and home to talk about vaping and encourage our kids to make healthy smoke and vape free choices.

Parent Teacher Interviews- October 24, 4:30-6:30pm
We are pleased to remind you of the upcoming Parent-Teacher Interviews scheduled for October 24 from 4:30 to 6:30 PM. This is a valuable opportunity to meet with the 4 teachers your student interacts with daily and discuss their progress in courses. On October 10, grades 9-12 students received their early progress report cards and Individualized Education Plans (IEPs). These documents will provide you with important insights into your child’s academic performance and any specific learning needs they may have. Interview Sign Up sheets were sent home with report cards. Please make sure to sign up for a time and send this sheet back to school with your student, so they can confirm interview times with their teachers. Your involvement plays a crucial role in your child’s success, and we strongly encourage you to take advantage of this opportunity to connect with teachers. We look forward to seeing you there!
Cell Phone Use
Visitors to the School
We know that sometimes parents need to come to the school to drop something off for their student, or pick them up for early dismissal. All visitors to the school must report directly to the front office. For safety reasons, parents are not permitted to walk the halls of the school unless accompanied by a staff member. If you need to speak with one of the principals, we are always happy to meet with you, but ask that you call ahead to make an appointment as the days are busy working directly with students and we are not always available for unscheduled appointments.
Celebrating Excellence: Academic Awards at Trenton High School
On October 2, Trenton High School had the privilege of honoring the outstanding academic achievements of our students during our annual Academic Awards Ceremony. This event showcased the incredible accomplishments of our learners, highlighting their dedication, perseverance, and passion for learning.
The awards were presented to the students who achieved the top grade in each course across Grades 9 to 12. These awards serve as a testament to the hard work and commitment that our students put into their studies throughout the school year. From mathematics to arts, sciences, and humanities, the exceptional efforts of our students were recognized, and we could not be prouder of all they have achieved.
One of the most remarkable aspects of the evening was the opportunity to invite families into the school to celebrate these amazing accomplishments together. The support and encouragement from families are integral to the success of our students, and it was heartwarming to see everyone come together to celebrate the many ways our learners are excelling at THS.
It was an inspiring night filled with pride, joy, and anticipation for what the future holds for our talented Tigers. Congratulations to all of our award recipients! Your achievements set a high standard for academic excellence at Trenton High School, and we look forward to even greater accomplishments in the future
